This isn't really the issue I am having. My hand wheel is extremely tight. I can turn it but it is really stiff but I don't know what to do to get it to move freely again.

this is the only other thing i can find out......Best Answer:  You need to remove the bobbin and hook case and clean out any lint or thread. The needle may be bent and needs to be replaced. .....
or this..When the thread gets tangled underneath your bobbin, you can't move the hand wheel forward or back. If you are embroidering, And it is so tangled underneath, you probably will have to lift the hoop as much as you can, reach under with your scissors and clip the threads, pull out as much of the knotted mess as you can, remove your bobbin and clean out your bobbin case and the area around it, remove your needle and insert a new one..
    or this.......
I have seen this problem cross my workbench quite often...most of the time it is caused by a small piece of thread being caught in the hook area. Try this...grip your handwheel in your left hand and the small wheel in the center of the handwheel in your right hand and turn the handwheel sharply away from you. This will usually pop out the offending piece of thread and free your machine. Be sure to oil your machine well before you start to sew.
or this.....when mine sticks it's always the thread underneath the fabric that gets tangled. try taking out the bobbin and making sure no parts underneath are loose...
or this....I had the same problem, eventually realized I never slid the bobin stopper back to original position (to the left) after filling up my bobin with new thread.
    or this.....
It can do this if your bobbin is tangled. Check to see if any thread is caught. take the bobbin and the bobbin case out and clean it from threads and dust.

this is all i could find for you.

Belt not gripping on singer 237 and needle doesn't go up and down

1. The motor has a bolt that you have to loosen and move up and down for adjustment.
2. Take the needle out first before adjusting.
3. You will slowly apply pressure to the foot control pedal until the motor is moving. Pull up on the motor to a point where the motor moves the fastest.
4. Tighten motor. Check again afterwards.
5. It is essential that the center of the hand wheel is tightened before you begin.

My sewing machine stops after about 10 revolutions, the motor is till running but the needle does not move. any suggestions please ?

1. Loosen the screw on the front of the hand wheel, almost completely.
2. Now, tighten the hand wheel control knob. The needle should be able to move now.
3. Tighten the screw. Your hand wheel control knob should be able to be loosened for bobbin winding and tightened for sewing.
Just for information purposes: The hand wheel control knob is usually the small round knob on the front of the hand wheel and is also very shiny.

The wheel on the right no longer moves the needle, it spins freely. It will sewwhen using the footfeed but not by hand.

The small handle attached to the hand wheel is the problem:
1. Loosen a small screw on the front or side of the small handle. Almost all the way.
2. Tighten the small handle as if you are tightening like you are going from loading a bobbin to sewing.
3. Tighten the small screw.

Why won't my old manual singer sewing machine needle move?

1. Disengage the bobbin winder. That is done by moving the arm away from the center wheel. 2. Tighten the hand wheel. When you tighten you should have resistance like a jar has. If this doesn't then continue. 3. Loosen the small screw attached to the hand wheel center lug. Now, move the hand wheel into a position where it will tighten. 4. Go ahead and tighten the small screw. Now, it should move.

Can't tighten clutch on Kenmore zig zag sewing machine.

The clutch has fallen off the shaft. Remove the very small screw in the clutch release screw to remove the clutch release. Place the clutch(round thing with ears on it) back on the shaft with the center ears pointing towards the outside. Put the clutch release screw back on. Tighten it to make sure it works
properly. Put the small screw back in the clutch release screw and test it again. If it will not tighten or release properly, remove the clutch ,rotate it180 degrees and try it again. This should solve your problem.
