Heater shuts down after about one minute pilot light is large plenty of ventilation

I would try changing the thermocouple when they get old they sometimes corrode or oxidize whatever the word is and the coating causes it not to work right. Usually when we have had to replace ours it is under 20 bucks. I hope this helps you

I changed the thermocoupler but problem remains the same: pilot goes out after about 10-15 minutes. I have Williams model 250912. Please help! How do I test if new thermocoupler is also bad, beside...

Remove the thermocouple and take a pencil eraser to the hole. Clean the corrosion out the hole. Reconnect the thermocouple tight. The tip of the flame must hit the tip of the new thermocouple.
If the flame is hitting the middle of the thermocouple that is called wash through (no good) The bimetal tip of the thermocouple is made of nickel and copper layered. When heated it produces millivolts. This holds the electromagnet in and that is your safety feature. Thank you Ralph Nader.

Will lite but goes out within a min

Make sure the thermocouples not fully engulfed in flame, it needs to be on;y at the tip end as they operate via temperature differential acrosss the thermocouples surface, if the whole thinfs one temp it drops out electrically(makes 30 millivolts) and the electromagnetically operated pilot safety valve closes, thus stopping the main burners operatin as its sensing no pilot exists. try a new thermocouple, about 15 bucks, and set it as described in pilot flame, if that wont do it, the gas valves bad.

Can't light pilot on rudd model urcf 07e24jkr

If your furnace indeed has a pilot, a thermocouple or gas valve is your culpret. Thermocouple is about ten bucks from The Home Cheapo so it is a good inexpensive start. That is the copper stick that the pilot flame hits. Turn off the gas and electric when changing it. If it still won't light then you will need a qualified HVAC tech to replace your gas valve.

The thermocoupleis about 3/16" in diameter and slides up through a hole right beside the pilot flame. Sometimes it doesn'tget pushed up far enough to come out the top into the flame. check the bottom of the pilot assemblynext to the silver pilot tubing, there the thermocouple is attached to a very small copper tube( 1/16") and this tube runs back to the gas valve. If it is there see if you can push iy up into the hole next to the silver tubing. unless the thermocouple can feel the flame the pilot will not stay lit, Hope this helps.

Pilot Light

You need a new thermocouple they are about 5 bucks at a hvac supply store. Or you can get them at a hardware store. you can take the one out and go down and get the same length. In brief the thermocouple keeps the gas supply open to the pilot light.
