Question about Teac Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

I own a TEAC 3 Head System Cassette Deck which is 10 years old. It's had moderate use. Since yesterday it won't play cassettes without stopping after a few seconds of play; even with different cassettes inserted. The model number is V-1050. Can I still get spare parts for it?

I think your solution is correct; the tape counter also slipped when I rewound or fast forwarded a cassette.

The problem is the drive belts, they deteriorate from the Ozone and use and stretch, this causes slipping and that is what is causing your problem, there are at least 2 and I think three, you can order them by size and type at kenselectronics.com, the web site page is here
http://www.kenselectronics.com/lists/belts.htm

U can also try ebay for belts, I have bought belt kits there for a few units I have repaired, much easier if they come in a kit.

My Teac LP-R500 audio cassette player squeaks when playing. Tapes do not squeak on my other player.

It all depends on where the squeak is coming from. Some very clean rubber parts make kind of a squeak but I don't think that is your problem if you use cartridge cleaning systems. The real answer as a 40 year plus Tape Deck Technician is to get in there and see what is causing the squeak- it may need some oil in reel table, Pinch Roller or even the Capstan Bearing. Manufacturers do not like to put oil into
unit as it makes for no repairs and you will not have to buy a new one.
I worked at Teac but this unit is far after my exit- I still do repairs full time on the product though. I am sure I could resolve it- I am in the Chicago are.

Teac V7010 posted to me but stop and play buttons

Sometimes you can repair these type of connected strips by melting them back together or on with a soldering iron. Do it in a well ventalated room with a mask and goggles, to prevent the plastic fumes going in your eyes.
The only other way is strong superglue.
You could phone the maker if they still have the parts. But I wouldn't hold out much hope if the model is over 3 to 5 years or more old. Even then it might be cheaper to get the same model off E-Bay.

Teac Cassette Deck V-518X. No Record Audio.

Hello,

Found a pinched wire under the cassette deck from the record head. Move the wire out from under the cassette deck. Works fine!

Thanks!

TEAC CX-370 Cassete Deck

Could be a worn out belt? The cassette loads it the drive down too much. Hence why it turns with no tape.

Cassette playback

Hi, I am brand new to this site. So I may not be very good. However your prob sounds like one I had a few years back. I solved mine by using two pencils, one in each hub.
Then winding manually from one to the other. This is quite time consuming, but it worked for me. Hope this helps, if not, sorry for wasting your time.

Teac A-21 Stereo Cassette Tape Deck turns un, but won't play cassette tapes...

very likely that the drive belt has broken. I have fixed a TEAC myself using a large O-Ring from a hardware store (I know I was lucky to find a very close match). Open the unit and find the broken belt and take it to a hardware store to "size up" a replacement. Use the opportunity to oil the gear shafts and clean the rubber pinch roller.
