This is the only Mod I am aware of https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AGhPLpifAoU It was no easy find. Being its a SDR radio. I am unsure of any mod sites hosting any mod aside from receive. Except in this case of the video here.

SOURCE: what's the channel frequencies for a common 22 channel motorola 2 way vhf radio?

Not sure what you want.....VHF band ius approximatly 130mhz to 175 mhz..... in that VHF band there is a commercial VHF band aprox. 155 mhz to 175...... the amateur radio vhf band is aprox. 135 to 150mhz.

With amateur radio, any freq in that range can be used...... with commercial radio the FCC cangive a company any freq. in that range also.

If you are looking for FRS/GMRS frequencies they are UHF freqs not VHF.

So I'm not sure exactly what you want......sounds like you might want to program in FRS freqs into an Icom amateur radio. If thats  the case you will need an Icom that will do UHF freqs.

Hi,

I suspect that the extended transmit will really allow you TX on 2 Meter from 136-174 or thereabouts even with modifications.

At any rate, Air Bands are amplitude modulated, have you tried switching mode to "AM" when operating 116-136MHz??

Would you post back please on how the modification (extended transmit) was done; software programming of the EEPROM or jumpers (JP1001-1009).

Good luck and kind regards.

Simply Put, modifying an AMATEUR radio for use outside of the 144-148mhz band is completely illegal. These radios are not spec'd for operating in the commercial VHF Band, and modifying it to do so may cause not only failure of the radio, but when transmitting you may interfere with other commercial frequencies, ie..fire, police, and if you are caught with the modified radio, may even face a huge fine or Jail time. Put bluntly, your better off to go out and purchase a proper VHF Radio for use in the frequencies which it is intended.

SOURCE: how to add frequencies/channels to ICOM IC-F21

Sorry, but your radio is limited to 16 channels in the 400-430 and 440-470 MHz ranges. The number of channels cannot be expanded, nor can the frequency coverage.

SOURCE: ICOM IC-A23 CL-ERR Problem

My neighbor just had this problem so I delved into it and fixed it.

You will need another working radio and the cloning cable.

DO NOT GO BUY ONE FOR 23 BUCKS PLUS SHIPPING!!!!!!!

This cable is nothing more than the same one you use to pipe your MP3 player into a car's AUX input.
You either have one or know someone who does that you can borrow.
If not go buy one from Sears ,Best Buy or any decent truck stop should have them for about ten bucks.

Turn both radios off.
Now with the 3.5 mm cable plugged in to both radios hold down the up and down arrow buttons and turn them on.
They should say "clone".
Now press the" ENT" on the good radio,
This will send the data over to the "bad" radio.
Now turn them both off, remove the cloning cable and turn them back on.
Both should be working now.
\WARNING if your battery is in bad shape it can cause the problem to come back. Either deep six the battery or hit the battery for a few seconds with your car battery charger to shock the cells.
Some times this can extend the battery's life.

Good luck!!
Rich

How can I remove the transmit frequency restrictions on icom IC-F700 radio

You can't, they are made to work on certain frequencies by law and it would be a Federal Offence to alter, even if it was possible.

How come my icom 756 pro did not transmitting on 8000 frequency

You have to modify this radio to operate outside of the HAM bands. You will likely find the modification at www.mods.dk. This is a pretty common and easy modification for HAM radios. Your performance may not be as good as in the HAM bands.

You do this MOD at your own risk. If you are not licensed for operation on ANY frequency or band, you are not legally allowed to transmit. Heavy fines may be levied against you.

For direct frequency input: i.e 2061.4khz transmit - (TX), (2), (0), (6), (1), (4), (ENT) - use (RX) for receive frequency.
For ITU channels - (CH), (4), (1), (2), (ENT)
Direct frequency inputs are restricted to authorized marine band frequencies.

Need a service manual need to modify a MR f55 radio to transmit on 161.600 mhz can you help?

Hello,
You want to be able to transmit to the Coast Station on this frequency I assume. The Coast Guard monitors channel 16 at all times. This would be the primary channel in the United States. Your radio is VHF Marine Radio and has a built in frequency range of 156.050 MHz to 163.275 MHz. There is no need for a modification. This is a duplex frequency. What that means is you will transmit on one frequency and receive on another, while on channel 20. You will not need to transmit on 161.600. Turn your radio to channel 20. When you transmit, you will transmit on 157.000. And when the Port responds to you your radio will automatically receive their signal on 161.600. So if you are trying to figure out how to communicate with the port authorities then for that frequency turn your radio to channel 20 and you will be able to communicate with them.

Regards, Tony

Commercial radio model

Hi,

A Kenwood TM-271A is an amateur radio and therefore restricted to transmit only from 144 - 148 MHz but can receive from 136 to 174.

The TX restriction is done with a resistor (R119) which inhibits transmission outside of the 144-148 band. It is located very near a large IC (IC252).

Depending on your country's radio communications policies and/or your radio license privileges, simply removing R119 would allow transmission outside of the 144-148 MHz.

Hope this be of some help/idea. Post back should yuo need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.
