I get the message 'protected card' Next trick?

There are several possible causes for "memory card locked/protected", "memory card error", or "no memory card". The most common cause is having the tiny slide switch on the side of the card in the wrong position. The second most common is trying to use a 4GB or higher SDHC card with an older camera made before SDHC format came out. There are also other common causes if the above didn't help, with troubleshooting steps for this problem listed here.

My camera shows a "lens error" message

Hello and welcome
The most common cause for a Lens error:

Misaligned Lens rings
Sand and grid wedged in between the lens and the barrel.
Dropping the camera
Ran down battery

The following solutions are there by which you may Fix the lens error

  • Firstly you can try removing the batteries and replacing it with a new set of fully charge ones
  • If the batteries ran down while you were taking photos with the lens extended, you might also get this error. Remove the the memory card and replace the batteries with a fresh recharged set. Try to power on the unit with the fresh set of batteries while the memory card is removed
  • Connect your camera to your computer using your USB DATA cable which came with the camera. Once the camera gets power in this mode, the screen should stay off, hence, supplying the lens with more power to push or pull out/in
  • Place the camera on a sturdy table with the lens pointing to the ceiling. With a fresh set of batteries installed(Do this without a memory card) hold down the shutter button while you power on the unit
  • Now, you can either use a compressed air canister to blow around the lens area. This will result in the sand or dust particles to be blown out of the area between the lens and the barrel. Or, you can use a vacuum and and carefully place the nozzle around the lens to out the particles

I hope this solution will helpful for u Your Rating as Four Thumbs which are given below to this solution will appreciate me

Daughters Alcatel OT 708 Mobile phone appears to be working except that it will not send texts.... It takes a while trying then comes up with message "not sent saved in outbox' Have seen this problem...

I am not familiar with Alcatel mobiles but I can help you find out the cause of the problem. This issue is another very common with many mobile users, and there are two main cause, 1. Message (sms) center and 2. Service(Network) Operator.

To fix the first one, you have to check the message center number, I hope you have another sim card with the same network. If you don't have, simply insert the sim card (your daughter's) on another mobile and try sending a message, how is it? If Yes, follow the next para, if No, then skip the next para..

After it's verified that there's no issue sending message from another handset with the same sim card, find out the message settings and locate the message center [should be inside the message > message settings > text message > message settings] and note down the message center number. After it's done, remove the sim card and insert it on the other (your daughter's) mobile, find and locate the message center number and compare with the one you've noted down (including the code before the 10 digit number) then replace with the one you've got from the other phone (exactly as it's shown on the other phone), save it and try sending text message again. It should work now.

If it's 'No' then call the customer care of the Network Operator and ask them to fix it. Must be from their side, simply the feature can be disabled or enabled by them. They'll let you know the current status of the sim card regarding text message.

Honestly I apologize that I can't give you the exact sequence to get into the message settings and to the message center, but I hope at least you'll be able to understand my instructions.

If you need further help, let me know.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

When a CompactFlash is loaded, a message of "Card Error. OK" appears and remains on the LCD monitor.

Please follow the procedure below: 1. While the message is displayed, press the center of the controller. 2. The LCD monitor and data panel will turn off . 3. Turn the Main Switch to OFF and remove the CompactFlash card from the camera. 4. If "No Card " message appears at next time the camera is activated in the recording mode, the camera and CompactFlash card are OK. 5. In case that "Card Error. OK" appears again, the CompactFlash card may be faulty. Use other card.
