To remove the bolt or nut turn it the same direction the blade turns when cutting. This way the bolt tightens itself as it mows not back out and slip.

How to change mower blades

I have seen lots of lawn tractors and never had a left hand thread. I have put a piece of two by four against the blade or vice grips as well.and put a pipe on my wrench and forced it to loosen. Oil the threads before reinstalling as well. Don't over tighten.

Have difficulty removing mower blades. find it impossible to remove the nut. is it left or right hand thread ?

Hi,
The threads are right hand....
wedge a block of wood into the blade to hold it
then you can really push on the nut...
also make sure you have a good fitting socket wrench
add a pipe on the handle for more leverage...
you also can heat the nut to red hot and then let it cool
which will also help to loosen it...

Replace blades on Mtd mower deck

no they are not left hand threads if nuts have molded washers you must use an impact gun. wash holds too much of blade surface and will not turn against it

Are blade mounting bolts left or right hand threaded ?

Right hand threads. I just replaced mine. The bolt will turn off in the same direction the blade turns when it is running.

My deck cuts shoter on the rt,ie uneven

Check your tire pressures:
10 psi. for rear tires.
14 psi. for the front.

Note that according to MTD:
Making sharp right hand turns. Twin-blade mower decks are designed with the discharge on the right side and two side-by-side blades. The side-by-side twin blade decks have the left hand blade positioned slightly forward and in front of the right blade. This provides cutting overlap when traveling in a straight line. As a result, the tractor should mainly operated making primarily left hand turns when cutting. During left turns this cutting overlap is maintained. If turning right when, it is possible to negate this overlap and leave an uncut strip.

How to change blade

Most are right-hand threads, but pretty tight.
You might need to wear gloves to hold the blade, and a long-handled ratchet & socket to loosen the bolt,(after you disconnect the spark plug ,of course)
