Question about HP Photosmart C5180 All-In-One InkJet Printer

My printer told me it was out of ink on the yellow and photo cyan. So I replaced the cartridges with brand new genuine hp cartages. and it still tells me I'm out of ink but only on those two colors. Any help?

Hello,
I have a reset procedure posted on my web site at: www.ccl-la.com/hp.htm The reset works on several HP inkjet printers. The problem is air in the ink feed tubes. The reset purges the lines. This should get you back going.

Epson ink cartridges, always empty?

Epson has gone to great pains to ensure that third-party cartridges dont work. They really did a good job. Sometimes their printers wont even recognize genuine Epson cartridges. I saw a CX8400 with a brand new cartridge claim it was out of cyan ink after printing one 4 x 6 photo. Then it would recognize any cyan cartridge. It had to go back to Epson for replacement. Cannot print in a cyan color after having the cyan cartridge refilled. How do I cure this problem?

Often these newer style of ink cartridges utilize a chip which makes it that much harder to find a good compatible ink cartridge to work.

You can follow this link for a run down of replacement ink cartridges, genuine brand HP or Compatibles and give a replacement cartridge a try to see if it fixes it:

Is it possible to use non HP ink in ths printer? Tried using "remanufactured ink", and concluded that this printer may be programed to block the use of NON HP INK.

It is always recommended to use genuine HP cartridges.
As if we will use the non HP or refilled cartridges, it will reduce the life of the printer.
And we will get an error "cartridge problem".
Plaese use the below cartridges, which are compatible with this printer.

HP 02 Black Twin Pack 1320 pages
HP 02 Color Combo See single 02 inks
HP 02 Cyan 400 pages

The HP 99 cartridge is used if you would like to print photos. The HP 99 replaces the HP 96 (black) cartridge in your printer. The HP 99 cartridge has black, photo magenta, and photo cyan inks in it. When you pair this with the cyan, magenta, and yellow in your HP 97 (color) cartridge you have the full set of photo colors represented.

Photosmart C5280. Instructions on photo cartridge 348 say remove both black and colour cartridges, then install photo cartridge in right hand cartridge holder. Printer screen then tells me to install...

Your printer uses the following cartridges:

HP 74 - Black ink
HP 75 - Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow ink
HP 99 - Photo Black, Light Cyan, and Light Magenta

You need Photo Black, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Light Cyan, and Light Magenta to print photos. To accomplish this you install the HP 99 photo cartridge where your HP 74 black cartridge usually goes and you keep the HP 75 color cartridge where it's at. I don't know why your printer told you to remove both cartridges, then reinstall the HP 75 color cartridge.

Replaced a new cyan cartridge for Epson 1400. Printer ignored it.

Ye of course it could be faulty and Epsons are sometimes very fussy about using third party carts. Get it replaced at your store, try a different brand or buy a genuine Epson cart if you can afford it.

Changed yellow ink to new cartridge. Printer won't recognize.

I contacted the Brother site, the support function there. Pursuant to what I found there, I unplugged the printer for ten seconds and replugged. The message display then told me that cyan was empty, and that magenta was near empty.

I installed a new cartridge in place of the empty cyan, and that fixed it.

HP C7280 Printer not priting wirelessly.

Solution Replace the indicated ink cartridge(s), or press OK on the control panel to continue. HP recommends the use of genuine HP ink cartridges. Genuine HP ink cartridges are designed and tested with HP printers to help produce great results, time after time.
NOTE: HP cannot guarantee the quality or reliability of non-HP ink. Printer service or repairs required as a result of printer failure or damage due to the use of non-HP ink will not be covered under warranty. Follow these steps to replace the depleted HP ink cartridge(s). Step one: Replace the indicated cartridge(s)
  1. Make sure the HP All-in-One is turned on.
NOTE: The Attention light blinks when the product is turned on.
  2. Open the access door by lifting from the front center of the HP All-in-One, until the door locks into place. Figure 1: Opening the access door c01079714.jpg
  3. Squeeze the bottom of the latch below the ink cartridge to replace, and then lift the latch.
    • To replace the black ink cartridge, lift the latch on the far left.
    • To replace one of the five color ink cartridges, such as yellow, light cyan (blue), cyan, light magenta (pink), or magenta, lift the appropriate latch in the center area.
Figure 2: Lifting the latch c01079715.jpg 1 - Ink cartridge latch for the black ink cartridge 2 - Ink cartridge latches for the color ink cartridges
  4. Pull the ink cartridge towards you out of its slot to remove it. Figure 3: Removing the ink cartridge c01079716.jpg
  5. Remove the new ink cartridge from its packaging.
  6. Holding the new ink cartridge by the handle, push the ink cartridge into the empty slot. Match the color and pattern of the ink cartridge to the color and pattern on the print carriage. Figure 4: Inserting the new cartridge c01079717.jpg
  7. Close the latch, and make sure it is secure. c01079718.jpg
  8. Close the access door. Figure 5: Closing the access door c01079719.jpg
Step two: Align the new ink cartridge(s)
  1. Make sure paper is loaded in the input tray, and then press the OK button. The HP All-in-One prints the alignment page, aligns the printhead, and initializes the ink cartridges. This takes approximately 5 minutes. CAUTION: Do not disconnect or turn off the HP All-in-One during this time. You may hear the HP All-in-One making noises.
  2. Check the display for status, and then press the OK button. Recycle or discard the alignment page.
Cause The original HP ink in the indicated ink cartridge(s) has been depleted.
