Where do the AA batteries go in to work the radio

We have charged the batteries for our new tractor for our grandson but the radio doesn't work. We read that it needs AA batteries but we don't know where to put them. Thanks.- Janelle

Do i leave my radio on the charger all the time?

You didn't say what kind of radio or charger. If it's a "smart charger" and the radio has Lithium or NiMH batteries, it's not a problem. You should, however use the radio without charging it occasionally until the batteries have been mostly (but not fully) discharged. Ultimately that will give you the best life from your batteries.

If you're just using a "wall wart" charger. Only charge the batteries when they need charging, or before you know you're going to use the radio for a period near the maximum time it's rated to operate.
You probably ought to consider getting a battery pack that can accept "AA" batteries as a "spare". You can find AA batteries everywhere, and although they're not rechargeable (for the most part), they'll last longer than your rechargeable batteries - for one use. There's a reason the "Wildland Fire" people use nothing but standard AA batteries in their radios.

My cobra two ways were in storage for three years, they charged and worked fine before. when i unpacked them and put them on the chargre the charge lights came on like theyre charging. later i noticed

The charge light comes on and stays on full time, no matter the charge level of the batteries. Just put in new ones, batteries that is and start over. Be careful of the exposed metal strip on the bottom of the battery. The radio has a seperate charging circuit that must be made for the charger to work. Buy normal AA nimh and wrap a bit of tin foil over the one battery that makes the charging circuit and you should be fine. These batteries do not like long periods of non charging, so just scrap them and start again.

first of all check for at least 12 volts from the battery and the charger, you can test this using a multimeter, if the battery doesn't show

Dear kimbroberg2
My husband and I did the exact same thing for our grandson when he was 8 months old. We pulled the car out of the attic last night and the battery did not work. My husband called the manufacturer customer service at 714-256-9888. He was told that the batter was too old and would have to purchase a new one. My husband called around for the item description that they suggested and found a comparable battery at Interstate Battery in our hometown. Good luck. I know we were very disappointed when this happened, but there is hope. Hope this helps.

No, the charger is only usable to charge the rechargeable NiMH or Li-Ion battery which comes with the radio. Attempting to charge Alkaline rechargeable batteries with this charger could cause the to expode. If your charger is not charging the batteries which came with the units, it could be you do not have the charger cord end plugged in all the way, or the batteries dropped below the initial charge level by setting on a store shelf too long. Most TalkAbouts come with a cradle style charger to hold the radio, and a possible plug to plug into the charge hole. Check all connections, and clean any battery/charger contacts with a pencil eraser. To re-initialize the batteries you would need to attempt 3-5 charge cycles by charging for 8-10 hours, then letting the battery rest for 8-10 hours, repeating 3-5 times as needed. If this does not bring the battery back to life, you need to replace the batteries.

What kind a charger i need for it

The FV200AA, as indicated by the AA, is the AA battery version of the radio, and does have a charger. If you are using rechargeable AA batteries you will need to charge them separate from the radio in the appropriate charger.
