Unfortunately that is the penalty for buying proprietry units. They control the sales of spare parts and can then run a monopoly. I don't think you have a choice once the warranty expires, unless you can get it replaced under insurance

Yes it can be fixed. Garmin charges $69 flat rate fee to fix this unit and they will update it while they have it. Contact garmin customer service at 1-800-800-1012 to set up an RMA to get your device repaired.

I battery went dead. I have pluged it into my computer . It lights up and shows a picture of it attached to the computer and the word Garmin but it does not show it chargeing.

Please leave it to charge and after about 2 hours - check it.
The Garmins need an initial charge to run - it is not bypassed if dead. It will not run on adapter power.

If it will not charge in vehicle or home - the jack may be loose from the board - but more likely the battery has failed.

Garmin DOES repair for a flat fee - units that are OUT OF 1 year WARRNATY CLICK HERE.

My garmin nuvi 205 will not power on. I have plugged it in to charge the unit and it updates maps and shows the charging screen. Afterwards I unplug the unit and slide the switch over and it will not power...

This is likely a failed battery.
The battery on these units is not user-replaceable (soldered to the PCB) and must be returned to Garmin for repair.

CLICK HERE to see more about their FLAT RATE repair service.

Your nuvi 205 is listed as a $79 flat rate repair.

Does nothing

The battery CAN be replaced, however it is not an easy swap battery pack.
The battery in all garmin units is soldered directly to the PCB.
Garmin does not have authorized repair centers, and they have a flat-rate repair if your unit is no longer under warranty.

CLICK HERE to see more information about sending it back.
Your unit is listed as a $89 flat rate repair.

The screen on my garmin 60 csx is scuffed. Can it

It can. I believe Garmin has a flat fee for fixing. On the newer models like yours I think it $150. I would wait till something really goes wrong before sending it in for repair.

I have a garmin 238 gps and 2 pins on the back broke off. How can i get them repaired. I live in the cayman islands

More than likely they broke off due to corrosion. Are these the power pins? You can send it to either garmin and pay a flat rate fee, or to Mid-Shore Electronics in Ocean City, MD. 410-228-7335. I hear they do pretty good work.

GPS does not operate

The screen cannot be fixed unfortunatly with out sending it to Garmin themselfs. It sounds like the same for the button as those commonly wear out on those models. garmins site has flat rate repair fees on how much it will cost to fix. They usually will send you a refurbished model for a cheaper price than buying a new one.

Need parts

Garmin has a Flat Rate fee to rebuild all current GPS systems. You will probably find that they will rebuild the GPS cheaper that you can buy parts. Let me know if this resolves your problem.

Display on my Garmin E-Trex Legend GPS

Sounds like the screen is shot and theres nothing really you can do to fix it, sorry :(

You can send it to Garmin for the flat rate repair fee of $79 dollars. I would recommend getting the new eTrex Legend H with the high sensitivity receiver if you want a similar model. It's sat reception will blow the prior version out of the water and has 24mb of memory rather than the 8mb it used to have.

My Garmin c550 will not come on anymore. The screeen is black

Check the 12v power cord to make sure its still powering/charging the unit. Usually they have a light on them that will show if its receiving power or not. You can also unscrew the tip of those things (on most cables) and check the fuse to see if its blown. If its not lighting up and the fuse on the cable is ok check the one in your truck to see if it needs replacing.

If the cable is not the issue then the GPS is probably dead. If its not under warranty the flat rate repair fee from Garmin is $200
