SOURCE: amp cutting out when bass hits

make sure that all the connections to the power supply are tight. The protection circuit is doing this so that your amp do not burn up. The size of your amp also demand heavy wiring. Make sure you used the recommended size. Also you need to make sure that the battery and the alternator can keep up with its large demand. You may need an extra battery too. I know a single battery can deliver a lot of current, but a powerfull amp demands the current really fast, when the bass hits. You can use a large damping capacitor, they are extremely big, or you can add another battery. All these will also give your amp more thump, and make it operate at full efficiency. meaning even louder! If these do not solve the cutting out issue, you may have to turn down the gain down slightly. Every type of music do not deliver same amount of bass, hip hop music, and rap would require you to trim down the gain some. Bass is delivered at its best in moderation, too much and you end up with a rattle rather than solid bass. I have a 4,000 watts amp at home, I don't use it in my car. I got it rigged up as a house stereo. I bought it for a 100 bucks broken, and fixed it. I have worked with hundreds of car amps a before in a electronic shops, I also design small amps once in a while. I myself love those loud gadgets. Well hope it has been helfull. Goodluck.

In order to get full power from the amp you need to wire you amp ( high level input of the amp ) to your cars rear speakers both left and right ( negative to negative positive to positive ), once done you can wire your speaker to the left and right speaker output of the amp. Comment if you need more assistance. Best of luck

So how do wire this set set up to a bridged amp any help would be appreciated

assuming that is a dvc dual 4 ohm speaker, and you have a 2 ohm bridged amp, you run a positive from each side of the speaker into the bridged positive of the power amp, and run a negative from each side of the speaker into the negative bridged terminal of the amp. if, indeed, you have 2 4 ohm voice coils, running them bridged in parallel wiring will bring the load to 2 ohms. if you have 4 voice coils, of 4 ohms apiece, you could run all 4 parallel into the amp, but that would bring the load down to 1 ohm, and you would have to make sure you8r amp can support 1 ohm operation.

I have the Sony explode 1200 2/1 channel amp and 2 comp series lighting audio 10s 8ohm 900 watt max best way to hook up for loudest bass

You will have to wire subs together for a 4 ohm load. Then bridge amp (1 channel). Look on amp speaker outs to see what leads to use to bridge. Run positive and negative to one speaker then use a jumper wire from that positive and negative to the next speakers positive and negative

How do I connect a Sony xplod 1000 watt 2 channel amp to 1 10" dual 4 ohm voice coil 1500 watt planet audio subwoofer?

Connect one voice coil to one channel of the amp. Repeat with the other voice coil. Do not bridge the amp as your only choices would be series which would be an 8 ohm final load and cuts the amp power in half or parallel wiring which results in a 2 ohm load and very few Sony amps currently made can handle being bridged to a 2 ohm load.

I have Sony xm-2165gtx amp 165 watt rms x 2 at 4 ohm 200 watt x 2 at 2 ohm 400 watt x 1 bridge output at 4 ohm stereo or bridge mono output 4 ohm stable in bridge mode this mean can't go lower then 4 ohm...

You can't bridge that amp onto a load lower than 4 ohms. So you can't bridge that amp onto two 4 ohm subs. To get the most power out of your subs is easy. Run one channel to one sub and the other channel to the other sub. 165 watts RMS is plenty for most subs.

Ive got an sony xplod 1200 watt amp thats bridgeable ive got two dual 4ohm subwoofers how do i wire this up to get the countinued bass with no cutting off

wire each sub in series inside the box, this makes them each 8 ohms, then run them parallel from the box to the amp bridged. this will give you 500 watts at 4 ohms

I have two sony xplod 12" speakers wich can hold

You only gave us the model of the amp so I will make an assumption that your 12" subs are the Sony XS-GTX120LW. First, they cannot hold 1200 watts a piece. They are meant to be powered with 350 watts RMS. They will hold 1200 watts peak. That means that 1200 watts for a few seconds will be ok. Past that and kiss them goodbye!

Next you indicated that bridged the amp. Since the subs are both 4 ohm single voice coils did you wire them in series or parallel?

It sounds to me like you wired them in parallel resulting in the amp seeing a 2 ohm load. The amp you referenced is only stable when bridged at 4 ohms.

Has the amp begun working again once it cooled down? If not you could have fried the outputs by having the resistance too low.

Hello king3132,

Three 4 ohm subs can be wired parallel for a 1.34 ohm final load or series for a 12 ohm load. If you have the channels of the amp bridged, I hope that the subs are connected in series because the Sony XM-2200GTX is NOT rated for or stable at 1.34 ohms. It's only stable down to 4 ohms.

You definitely will not get the maximum potential of the subs from that amp. They can handle 400 watts RMS each (total 1,200 watts) and the amp is only capable of 500 watts RMS into 4 ohms (less at higher impedance), so each sub could only be getting a maximum of 166.6 watts RMS.

Hope this helps.
