Question about Masterbuilt Grilling

Open Question

I have a masterbuilt 20070211 electric smoker. It will turn on & heat up, but will shut down (no lights on control panel) at intermittent times & temps. Is this a controller issue?

FWIW I was able to contact Masterbuilt today, and they recommend replacing the digital controller. Now here is the good news: The controller from them is $29.99 plus $10 shipping,ApplianceFactoryParts wants $59.95 plus $10 shipping!

SOURCE: Masterbuilt Smoker Model 20070108 Digitial Controller not working. Worked the first time, then no power. I hear a beep when I plug it in, but no display.

I had the same problem this morning. I seasoned it two days agao with an outside temp. of 50. This morning it was 8 degrees and when I pluged it in there was no readout. I removed the digital unit from the top and heated it with a hair drier and it worked when I reinstalled it. I think it had some moisture in it although the unit has been covered the whole time. I am going to call Masterbuilt tomarrow and see what their answer is to this problem.

SOURCE: My Masterbuilt electric smoker stopped heating will cooking

I just bought a new Masterbuilt Smoker by default two weeks ago I borrowed a friend’s to smoke about 30lb. of Salmon to then can. Ran the smoker every day for three day. ON my last batch the heating element would not work. Talk about Frustrated! The Smoker was only 2 yrs. old.

Knowing I borrowed I felt I had to replace. So online to Cabelas and I ordered my buddy a new smoker and had it shipped. I then found this website... GOT TO LOVE the internet. I saw many other people had the same problem. Found an Answer...

The Problem was one of the connector to the heating element was poor quality and if you don't clean your smoker on a regular basis. The heat and moister caused the small copper connector to corrode and the wire to come loose. I took a wood chisel and cut off all the rivets on the back. I was then able to pull the back off with no damage and access the small box in the lower back. I found the connector. Went to the hardware store and bought a replacement for .75 cents. A pair of wire crimpers and the problem was fixed. I also bought ½ inch Sheet metal screws to secure the back it was good as new. So I returned the smoker to my buddy and kept the new one. When it arrived I saw Masterbuilt has since fixed the problem and provided an access panel to the element and connectors.

SOURCE: my smoker won't heat. The light on my digital

Hi,

You must check and test the entire eletrical power cord...

Take a look in the power cord terminals ( AC conectors)

Or it´s time to Repair, and you will need to change your heating element.

I need an element for Mod: 20070106 Ser.# GA040925

You can purchase a new heating element part # 990050051 either from Masterbuilt or from Factory Appliance Parts http://www.appliancefactoryparts.com/gasgrillparts/brands/masterbuilt/
If they are still available. All of Masterbuilt's electric smokers have been plagued with electrical problems.. It's either the element or the electronic controller on the top of the smoker, that constantly fail.

Hope this helped you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

I am getting a EEAF fault code and the smoker will not heat. What is wrong?

To RESET control panel:
If control panel shows an error message, turn electric smoker off, unplug unit from outlet, wait
ten seconds, plug unit back into outlet, then turn electric smoker on. This will reset control panel.
