Question about Washing Machines
I replaced the pump and the washer still does not work. I checked the voltage to the pump by putting it into spin and drain only. The recycle pump kicks on for a moment and then the drain pump is supposed to start but does not. That is when I checked for the 120 volts and I had nothing. The washer did drain all of the sudden at one point today, but then stopped after about 5 seconds of running.

Jayron, is the motor jogging? start to spin, stop, start to spin stop. If so, your motor is jogging between the high and low start windings. The motor during spin should start on the high speed windings and stay there until most of the water is drained. GE came out with a new motor, harness and run cap because of this. If you have a meter, there should be a white and white/red wire going to the motor. If you have a steady 120V and it's doing this jogging, replace the motor with the kit...Let me know if this the issue, Catriver..post back.

Nightshade, in most cases, no spin, no drain is a lid switch problem. If you advance the timer to the spin position does it spin? If the machine is agitating you can rule out the coupler. If you are sure that it is not a lid switch problem, then you are probably looking at a bad timer....Catriver..post back.

could be just the fuse, but failing that check all circuit boards for signs of blowing or burns, some machines when there is a short on the pump blow the circuit on the timer which is the most expensive part to replace best of luck

If pump works fine or still pumps out water, then it is a timer malfunction. Replace the timer and you should be fine. To locate a part number for your timer, refer to www3.sears.com with the model number off your washer.
