SOURCE: changed from natural gas to propane when new oven flames up the side top burners ok

Just bought a Kenmore and did this conversion myself. You do not change the oven nozzle (jets) but have to wrench it down with a 1/2" wrench as per instructions. After I did this the falme was high as you described. I wrenched it down further and adjusted the air shuttle and it was fine. The brioler is done the same. The wrench adjustment is tight so be aware.

Take a 1/2 inch open end wrench and adjust the orifice on top of the oven gas valve.
Tighten it down until the flame is normal. Blue with white tips.

SOURCE: Nervous about over tightening ... how tight before causing damage

You should contact the supplier of your oven as there may be a gas pressure reduction valve for the oven that requires adjusting. It needs to be done with a gas momoneter so not really any thing you should attempt your self.

Whirlpool WFG510S0AS2 range - stove burners work just fine, but both the oven and broiler does not stay lit. NOTE - this unit has been converted from natural gas to LP

when the lp conversion is done , it is normally just a jet size change that is done
however the air shroud has to also be adjusted to get a clean blue burn of the flame
The just jet change results in a slightly yellow flame which is incomplete burn of the gas and that creates carbon build up at the jet and burners causing partial blockage
I would suggest that you call in an accredited gas fitter to check the problem and if necessary , clean the jets and adjust the air shroud

New kenmore gas range 790.7433 converted to lp and oven flames are way too high and produce lots of soot...how fix?

Do the rangetop burners act OK, Brenda? It's just the oven that's causing a problem?

Go back to the oven burner, right where you installed the new orifice. That orifice should fit inside an air mixture tube, probably stainless steel, leading to the burner itself. Right where the orifice fits into it will be some means of adjusting the air mixture - a sliding window of some sort, whether flat or round. You'll need to loosen the screw holding it in place (DO NOT remove the screw, only loosen it) and turn it so the air opening is larger. Right now you're getting too "rich" a mixture, too much propane & not enough air. Before you close it all up, try the oven again - see if your adjustment worked correctly. If not, adjust it again - this is a trial-and-error process, and it's different for every different altitude and climate.

At some setting, you'll get a nice blue flame with very little orange in it. If you live in a very high humidity area, you'll have much more orange color than people who live where it's very dry, but the flame should at least be MOSTLY blue, and should never be sooty.

The oven and broiler work but the broiler flames up like its not getting enough air. the flame burns yellow

you may be correct with the air? is it LP or NG? air adjustment correspond with type of gas also the brass orifice you see going into the burner may be in need of ajustment, if its LP its needs to be screwed all way back even if it seems tight, screw it out away from burner ( clockwise) if NG then it's oppisite. hope this helps
