45 year old Slide projector

Ask around your local photo shops for a guy with a long grey beard to ask.

You could try advertising for an instruction book on your local freecycle and if Hanimex is still in business they might help you.

Some of those slide projectors were intuitive as they were completely manual but there were also magazine load, semi-auto and fully automatic versions that could also have a recorded commentary and backing music synchronised to the slide show.

Best of luck friend, have lots of fun with it.

Why the slide projector carriage not moving smoothly?

I have to assume you are referring to a Kodak projector, and probably a model that was manufactured about 35 years ago.... Assuming I am correct, the problem is timing of the operational camstack. This is the stack of cams that the functional levers ride on to make sure everything happens at the proper time during one complete rotation of the camstack (one slide change). Over time, all these surfaces wear and the timing can change slightly - giving you the effect you currently have. There is a method for adjusting the timing that I would not attempt unless you are a highly skilled, patient repair person. It is a "trial and error" system of advancing or retarding the timing to smooth out the functional timing. I am attaching a picture from an old service manual that may help you (or whomever you take it to) to make the adjustment. Good Luck !! Jim

I lost the operation manual for my Kodak Carousel Custom 860h slide projector and need to obtain one

The best place to check for a copy of the owners manual would be the George Eastman Museum in Rochester, NY. They may have it on microfilm there, and maybe will help you out. Because this model of projector is so old, chances of a dealer still having a copy are slim to none. Good Luck!!!

Carousel 760 won't advance or reverse. When I press the button I hear a buzzing sound. How to fix?

Chances are, with a projector that old, that you have a broken "link". The "link" connects the cycle solenoid to the slide change mechanism. The "link" is made of plastic, and it gets brittle & cracks over time. The buzzing sound you are hearing is the solenoid plunger bottoming out in the solenoid coil. This is a difficult, but there should still be parts available. I suggest you contact a factory-trained repair dealer to get your projector back working for another 20 years.

Kodak 750H corousel slide projector remote and on projector buttons not advancing slides. Just hums.

Chances are, by your description (and my estimate of the age of this model of projector), that you have a broken solenoid "link". The "link" connects the cycle solenoid and the slide change mechanism. The "link" is made of plastic, and gets brittle & cracks over time. This is a difficult repair, but you should still be able to find parts available. My advice is have this repair done by a factory-trained repair dealer and your projector will run another 20 years.

I have a very old Kodak 760H slide projector. I

Based on your description & what I know about those projectors, I suspect the solenoid "link" has broken. The "link" connects the cycle solenoid with the slide change mechanism. Over time, this plastic "link" gets hard, brittle and cracks, rendering slide change non-functional. The good news is there are still parts around to fix your projector & get another 20 years out of it. You should contact a factory-trained repair dealer to affect the repairs. Good Luck !!

760H projector will not go fwd or rev either from

The problem you are experiencing is caused by a broken cycle solenoid "link". The "link" connects the solenoid plunger to the slide change mechanism. Over time, the "link" (made of plastic) gets brittle, cracks and the projector stops cycling. Parts are still available (, but this requires an experienced hand and a service manual. Once done, your projector should be good for another 20 years !!
