Question about Kenmore 15899 Built-in Dishwasher

Dishwasher (Kenmore 665 Ultra Wash) won't drain. Suggestions?

I turned on the dishwasher as always. Ran it through it's cycle and it started leaking water all over the floor. After the cycle was over and several towels and small tupperware containers to catch and sop up the water, I opened the dishwasher and the water was still at the bottom all dirty and gray.

HI.This is a drain issue. check the following areas for faults.

1. Air gap / Drain hoses
If there is an air gap (located in the sink, near the faucet), check to see if it is clogged. Unscrew the top cap and see if there is anything blocking inside. Note: If there is no air gap installed, the dishwasher might not drain properly.

If the drain hose is clogged, the dishwasher would not drain. If there is an air gap installed, it is very common that a hose going from the air gap into the garbage disposer is clogged. Remove and clean the hose. Make sure to reattach the hose before starting the dishwasher.

Note: If you recently had a garbage disposer installed, it is common to overlook removing the drain plug.

Ok, if the hoses are ok and not clogged, this will confirm a major issue that concerns the drain assembly or pump impeller.

replace the pump(drain) if found to be faulty.

very insightful to make the connection between a recent disposer installation and the blocked drain port. Can't believe they make it that way. There should be a big yellow rubber plug on the disposer that can be pulled off when hooking up the dishwasher drain. Instead, you have to take a punch

The problem was the drain plug that I did not remove from the new garbage disposer that I installed.

I just fix mine today, august 21st. If you hear the pump running, which mine was, then there is a blockage more than likely. Mine was blocked on the inside of the drain hose inlet of the disposal. Pull off the hose and feel inside of the inlet. scrap it out and it should work fine.

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

Dishwasher not draining completely problem usually occurs due to clogged/blocked drain hose-filter assembly or the drain pump not working. First try to clean the drain hose and drain pump filter located inside the front bottom panel for any clogs, then check drain pump operation. Take off the bottom access panel to clean the drain pump filter and hose. If the problem returns after cleaning then it is the drain pump that needs replacement. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

I have a Kenmore ultra wash model 665, stock# 15951. When the tub starts to fill the water runs out the drain.

This means there is either an air gap in the drain hose or the drain hose loop is less than 32" high preventing back flow

there is no real way of checking the keypad. Not with a meter but if you push normal wash for example and it does not respond this usually means that you have a bad keypad

Kenmore Ultra Wash Model 665 Dishwasher

Dishwashers which are properly installed and regularly used won't normally have a problem with bad odors. Check the following: ?Was the drain hose brought in at the top of the cabinet, or down near the floor? it must be 34" from the floor. ?Do you run the unit at least once every 2 days? -Run a cycle with a quart of vinegar to clean the tub and pump. ?Does the disposal tend to back up slightly when the dishwasher drains? Drain may be clogged. -Don't use gel detergent! ?Check your water softener(If so equipped) These can cause foul odors in the water supply if not properly balanced or maintained Good luck!
