I just noticed that my duke energy bill has been higher during the past several months when I HAVE NOT BEEN LIVING has been vacant with the thermostat turned down. Why?

I am a Duke Energy customer too.
You didn't say which state you live in, but if you have been in NC, like me, then the weather has been much colder than normal. Even with the thermostat set lower (and you didn't say what temperature you set yours on), you would probably have used more heat to maintain that temperature. Also, if you house is not insulated as well as it might be, then cold air can be entering the house, making your heating bills higher.

I can't think of a solution, but if you can't let it go past 30 days, try the live chat, yes it is $20.00, but for paying your bills, i'd pay that to help get my bill paid.
