Petrol vapor smell...
From your statement , the leak is from a hose connected to the tank directly
it could be a problem EVAP system , vent valve , cracked hose or cracked filling hose or air bleed hose back to the filler
Petrol is almost invisible to the eye in small quantities but using talc powder sprayed on any suspect part will show as a dark or pink stain
At this point I suspect the EVAP and canister so run the fault codes first to see if thee is a fault recorded in that area
