SOURCE: Kelvenator split system air con has a loud banging noise from outside. I think it may b the fan as it's banging on something. How do I fix it

Start the air conditioner and physically go and have a look. You should be able to see and hear what is causing the problem. If it is the fan, assuming there is nothing caught, then something has changed to cause the 'Banging' sound. Either the cowling has moved or a fan bearing has collapsed etc. Once the cause has been found, then that's another question on how to fix. Cheers.

Turn on AC but outside unit fan doesn't move

Either a very bad Capacitor, or the fan belt came loose and the motor is just spinning

Why does my riccar supralite vacuum makes a loud rattling noise like the roller is banging around?

You have something wrong with your brush roll or you have damaged the fan. Remove the brush roll and belt and turn the vacuum back on, if the noise is gone it is likely something wrong with your brush roll, if the noise persists you probably have a broken fan. You have to remove the motor and fan housing after removing the top cover, unscrew the bolt holding the fan on and install a new fan (you can get one from any Riccar or Simplicity vacuum dealer)

Drum makes loud banging noise.

Maybe the heat in your dryer over time has melted weak glue and loose components are hitting against the drum

My air conditioner unit outside is making a very loud banging noise. It sounds almost like a small jack hammer. i noticed it this mornin and immediately turned off my system. Any ideas?

Hi!!

Have you taken a look at it???? It sounds to me like the condenser fan blades are bent or something fell in thru the grill that the blades are hitting on. If this is the case, TURN OFF POWER TO UNIT AT BREAKER BOX , remove the screws around the grill or cover
to get to the blades and fix the problem..

Don't forget to rate this post!! Good Luck!!

I hear a loud ratteling noise coming from where

The rattle is likely a loose shield or a bad catalytic converter. As for the loud banging, Have you checked the front U-joints behind the brake rotors. As for the Reverse noise? Auto or stick shift?

On tempstar heatpump the outside fan makes a loud noise

Well, that could mean a lage list of problems from which to choose, 1st I suggest you isolate the fan to be sure it is the problem; Hopefully you have an outside disconnect box for the unit, stop the power at this discoonnect and wait 3 minutes. Place a large stick or metal bar throught the topgrill to hold back the fan blade from turning. Now connect the energy at the disco box ( you may want a second person so you can hold the stick in place). You will not harm anything by holding the fan from turning for a short time. If you hear the noise that you suspect after the unit runs for 20 seconds, then the problem is most likely the compressor. If you do not hear the noise, then remove the stick and aloow the fan to turn. You at this point should be able to see if the blade is clangging, or the blade is imbalanced and vibrating, or the noise is coming from the fan motor itself. The most likely problem is the bearings of the fan motor are worn and the motor is screaching or laboring; in which case you need a new motor unless you are savy enough to replace the bearings in the motor (however, this is not always cost effective unless you really know your stuff). Check the blade for fatigue fractures in the metal and check the mounting points that hold the motor in place-----sometimes these mounting points also fatigue after years of vibrating and need to be reinforced with oversize washers or the entire top grill piece needs to be replaced if the cracks are too severe. Goodluck, Macgivor

Loud sound when turning on LG aircondition unit

Is it the outside unit ofr the inside... either way sounds as if the blade is hitting the fan shroud. you should be able to access unit to see exactly where noise is coming from.

Noise coming from radiator area

Your fan is not loose.  The shroud could be warped, broken, or missing screws and beating against your fan when it turns on.  If you are not mechanically inclined, I recommend letting the pros handle this problem.  You will be looking at the cost of the parts and a half hour to an hours worth of labor.
