I have a Plasmaire model 580.76129300, for the last few weeks the unit was rough when it was started, made some noise, but then would settle down, now the display unit flickers when it is turned on, the fan comes on for a bit, then dies. The unit is a bit over 5 years old.
The blower motor has shorted out and its taking the motherboard with it. I hate to say this but I think you already know its time for a new unit
the average life span is about 3 years on this model so its had a good run I hope this helps

Yeah, I figured I got my money's worth, it was a couple hundred bucks at the local Sears warehouse clearance center. But the damn thing died just before I was ready to move and I had already sold it to the landlord so I better replace it with another clearance unit tomorrow. Thanks!
