There might be a reverse option on one of the selections switches.
If it has sat for a while, it might need servicing; gummed up inside.

I can't find any free downloads for a 2010, but I did find one for a touchtronic 2000. When the model numbers are close, very often the manuals apply to both machines pretty well. It should at least give you some info. Go to http://safemanuals.com/user-guide-instructions-owner-manual/SINGER/TOUCH-TRONIC%202000-_E. You'll need to give them a rating of your machine, but that's all. This site and it's downloads have been checked for viruses and such, and it is a safe site. It doesn't ask you for, nor does it take any personal information.

If you are willing to pay something for the manual, leave me a comment back. I know of a lot of sites that have manuals available for a charge, and I can quickly search those and get back to you as to which ones have your manual and an idea of the costs. The ones you can download from are, obviously, less expensive than the ones you get mailed a hard copy from.

4 is the "middle of the road" tension number, but it depends on the thickness of your fabric.
