Use the screw on coax at the TV the slip on type one you have is defective

Posted on Dec 13, 2016

Testimonial: "The coax in on the TV requires a slip on type while the coax from the wall fits the connector fine its jut the slip on side is too large and just falls off we checked with Walmart and all the electronics stores in town and they shake their heads and shrug their shoulders like they've never seen this problem before I just need a connector with a smaller slip on side but being electronically ignorant do not know how to find one on amazon can you help if not thank u for taking time to try ?"

ALL Coax is a standard size, the only difference is the slip on type and the screw on type.

Cannot tune in TV stations

Without any model number... or trouble HISTORY... I am going drone on in some very basic terms.

Some "flat panels" are configured only as MONITORS which are quite suitable for most modern configurations... but are not suited to received BROADCAST Television (TV)... Also the YOUR UNIT HAS TO BE CAPABLE of modern digital reception... mandated by the FCC several years ago (March 1, 2007, "must"). Sets designed for analog need to be retrofitted with a converter box to continue "BROADCAST" service after that date.

To physically verify if your set is capable of broadcast reception you will only need to look at the cable connect panel. If you see an RG59/RG6 type screw-on coax connector... you are off to a good start...

Otherwise your "flat panel" was not designed to receive BROADCAST TV (not analog, nor digital, certainly not HD... none of it).

If indeed you spotted the coax connector terminal... and have a suitable digital signal connected to it... THEN you will need to go over your "flat panel" MENU selections looking for the any of the "AIR, CABLE or BROADCAST" selections... and select the appropriate input.

Still no tuner... it would be wise at this point to verify your signal "BROADCAST" signal does work... on ANOTHER TELEVISION... because now things become problematic and potentially expensive
(unless you don't mind an in depth Do It Yourself project).

You are looking at a FAILED main-board inside of your "flat panel" which will need to be replaced.

Before you call that repair person... just for yuks: pull up eBay on your computer and put that "flat panel" MODEL NUMBER in... to see the approximate cost, color and size of the power and "main-board" inside of your TV.

Look closely at the pictures that will be posted... and spot that RG59/RG6 type connector... but ALWAYS VERIFY your own circuit pack numbers before you take on any such SERIOUS DIY projects...

Here's hoping that COAX had just slipped off.

Do i need an antenna to recieve FM radio?

Yes. Stereo receivers typically have either screw terminals or a coax connector on the back for an FM antenna. You can use a TV antenna for this since FM radio is in the middle of the old TV VHF band. However, if the station you want is nearby, you can pick it up with a piece of telephone hookup wire (solid 28 gauge copper) connected to the antenna screw terminal (strip the insulation off the end of the wire that is connected to the terminal, but leave the rest of the insulation on). If you have only a coax connector, slip the end of the wire into the center terminal on the connector. The wire ideally should be about 30" long, but you may get by with less.

For more distant stations, you may want a long-range TV antenna.

How do i hook up mono tv with eterxnal speakers with a dvr box

If the DVR has RCA-type connectors, yellow to yellow for picture, and white to white for sound. Tune tv to line input.
If the DVR supports outputting everything on coax, use a piece of coax cable, and tune tv to channel 3.
Your coax cable from wall has to go into DVR first, then out to tv.

My whirlpool bottom element does not work . the element is enclosed. do i get at it from the side or bottom.the model is xlp34900 electric stove

Make sure cook had it set to bake, not broil (broil on runs top element), renters often forget that . First turn off electricity to the stove, breaker or fuse. I always confirm its off by trying a burner, doesn't heat in 30 seconds confirmed off.
Element loops from the back wall, held up by a little standard.
Usually there is a small screw under where the element goes into the back wall on each side, there is a little metal plate there that the screw holds down, remove the screw and plate and pull out element a little bit and will see where wire has a slip on connector onto element, slip those off, carefully unsnap little support (like clips to it) or unscrew from oven bottom. Then go to appliance parts dealer. Not appliance repairman but every time I did this it was always nearly the same exact way.

Need to connect an indoor FM antenna to the receiver the 75 ohm connection is only bare wire

the indoor antenna you have must have a screw on connector and the receiver has a smooth connector or you would already have it hooked up. Go to Radio Shack and buy a connector that turns the coax into a slip on style.

Digital to analog converter box hookup

You will have to go to Radio Shack or Wall Mart, maybe Home Depot and get a matching transformer. That will have spade terminals on one end to connect to your tv and a round (75ohm male thread) to hook to your converter box.

Female coax connector in tv bad?

Did the cable person take a reading on the signal level at the cable outlet on the wall and did the cable person check the TV setting to make sure they are correct. TV could be set on the wrong channel also.

Female coax connector in tv bad?

If your cable converter box has audio/video connections on the back of it,you don't need to worry about using that RF coax connector. Just hook it up the same way your DVD is hooked to the TV input jack. Get a 3-wire cable (yellow-red-white)hook it to the same colors on the back of the cable box and hook the other end to an unused input on the back of the TV. Then select that input with your remote and watch TV.
