Hello, the problem of you stereo appliances been shut down was as result of a mechanism jam of the system.
The way you could do this is to open the back cover of the appliances and check for the rubber attached to the motor of the appliances, also check and see if you can adjust the mechanism if it is a disorder manner, it require a careful approach.

How to remove protect sign from JVC KDR-416

Sounds like you have a speaker wire shorted or touching. Pull stereo out of Dash But leave wiring harness plugged in. With stereo off unplug positive and negative of one channel or speaker then power on to see if it starts to work. If it still says protect shut back off wire that channel back up and go to the next Channel. As you do this one speaker output should be the culprit. If you go through all 4 and it still says protect then it may be a problem within the unit itself

My stereo won't work. Whenever I try to turn it on, it always turns off saying "protect." How can I fix this?

The protect has come on because it senses an output load problem, Turn the unit off, unhook the speakers and wires from the stereo, now turn the unit on and turn the volume down as far as it will go, this should reset the processor ic, if the word protect stays off you have a short in the wiring or bad speaker. If the protect comes back on with everything unhooked the problem is in the audio output ic pack in the stereo and will require a technician to remedy.

Stereo goes into protect mode

Protect is a safety feature so that you do not blow your speakers. However with it hooked up with the computer you may have surpassed the max output. If it still does this with out going through the computer, it has been damaged.

Don't buy a stereo that prints up 'PROTECT MODE' and then does not tell you how to cure it. This is a good way of getting people to buy a new one only live and learn do not buy the same manufacturer again. I have a nice just out of warrenty JVC that when I switch it on sits there grinning at me with 'PROTECT MODE' showing. Yes I have entered cash protect mode and decided I am not going to buy another JVC.

Can't do anything - LCD screen says "PROTECT"

It may be that there is a problem with a fuse inside the stereo. It may say protect because the fuse has broken a connection that allows it to turn on. If the protect goe sup it is trying to help save the stereo from cooking its self, and give you a chance to get it fixed. If that is not the problem then it may be easier to just buy a new one, because a fix may be expensive if you don't have any warranties.
