Dear Tim
Disconnect the heater hoses from the engine block.
Using some steel or plastic pipe of the right diameter to fit inside the hoses.
Clamp the pipes inside the hoses, and attach a garden hose or a compressed air hose to the pipe to blow the heater core clean. Remember, the normal pressure that the core is designed for is about 15 # per square inch, so either normal household water pressure or an air compressor can blow the core to pieces, so be REALLY gentle whilst blowing it out.
God bless your efforts.

I have a 2002 GMC Jimmy and I have no heat coming out of the vents. I just replaced the thermostat but that wasn't the problem. I felt the 2 hoses that go into the heater core and 1 hose is hot and 1 hose...

if 1 hose is hot and the other is cold you have a stopped up heater core.try back flushing the heater core.you can also pour draino into the heater core and let it sit for about 1 hour a then flush it out again and it should be ok.hope this helps.

We live in a cold climate. Our 1998 GMC Jimmy Heater will not provide cabin heat. The engine warms normally. We replaced the thermostat just to make sure the coolant was warm enough. The blower operates...

UNHOOK BOTH HEATER HOSES AND FLUSH OUT HEATER CORE
DO IT FOWARD AND BACK FLUSH / COVER DIST. CAP OR YOU WILL
FILL IT WITH WATER / IF IT CLEARS OUT HOOK HOSES BACK UP AND
BLEED AIR OUT OF SYSTEM / IF IT DOES'T CLEAR OUT HEATER CORE
WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED (DASH COMES OUT TO DO HEATER CORE)

Flushing the heater core

I removed the hoses and took a air nozzle at low pressure and blew in the return hose connection of the core. A big chunk of paste like substance shot out then pure liquid. I put the hoses back on and tested it. Now its blowing hot!!!!!!!
