Put it in a warm place for a few days. The IP rating allows immersion up to 1m so it should be OK if it's still working. I wouldn't take it apart as if you don't remake the seals properly you'll be stuffed.

It is natural for marine electronic units to be exposed to excessive moisture on a boat. There are rare cases where somemoisture may appear inside the screen in the form of a light coat of fogging when excessive ambient pressure and humidity are present in the surrounding air. This means there is air present between the LCD screen of your unit and the outer protective lens. This is attributed to the unit being exposed to drastic humidity and temperature changes which is not uncommon. Temperatures can vary 12 to 25 degrees Fahrenheit between day and night.
The unit is outfitted with a Hydrophobic patch that allows moisture vapors to leave the unit once the unit is exposed to sunlight or as the screen warms up. To mitigate the effects of this process, it is helpful to store the unit in a warmer location such as a house or a garage when not in use.

After all was said and done, I placed the GArmin 478 GPSmap GPS in the basement next to the dehumidfier. In 24 hours all the moister and bubbles in the unit disapeared. This was the easiest solution ever.

My Garmin GPSMAP 178C screen backlight failed

Backlight problem: Remove the display, remove the light tube from behind the LCD. Buy a led panel from Ebay for around $5 and install it behind the LCD under the drfusing layers. Run the wires out to a 12 VDC source and there you have it.

The GPSmap 176c does not turn on. I have put in new batteries and cleaned the metal parts of the battery receptors

Do you use rechargeable batteries? The 176C seems to be extremely picky about the voltage. I had the same problem. Afer changing to non-rechargeable batteries, everything works fine again. Not great for the environment, but for my bearings.

I have a Garmin 60csx that won't power up

On my GPSmap 60CSx the screen fades away after powering on - just like the battery is empty. Changed battery and used USB power. Always the same. When removing  the 2GB micro SD memory card then it comes up. Replaced the memory card and now it powers up fine. Seems that the memory card is damaged or causes a short circuit.

Garmin GPSMap 60 CSx USB Connection

Actually, I just solved the problem myself...

I went to Garmin's driver download site (http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=591) and got the latest USB driver (2.2.1) for the 60C. (Although, it appears that that driver pertains to all Garmin products, not just the GPSmap series or the 60C.) Installation instructions are pretty much standard for Windows drivers, so it's easy.

That: a) Garmin requires special USB drivers for their product is finicky (most USB-connectable products just connect automatically using Windows' generic USB driver), and b) my unit -- which had always worked just fine, and suddenly stopped connecting out of the blue -- remains a mystery. Nonetheless, a driver upgrade was the final step that I needed. (Although, I also swapped USB cables and upgraded MapSource, too, so maybe it's some combination of those things.)
