Question about Computers & Internet

Open Question

Turning the amperage control on my EA-3003 S German built lab bench power supply 0-30v @ 2.5A doesn't work (with load atached) though it shows on the amp meter when you increase the voltage control.

It has analogue volt meter and seperate analogue amp meter. I have replaced all ic's on the pcb and transitors and re-capped with still no joy. The main power transistor on the back heatsink is a 2N3055 which i havn't replaced as i am getting volage and amperage out. Any help would be great..also i can't get hold of the schematic for this; if anyone can help.

SOURCE: Motorola DC power Supply (0-40volts, 0-40 amps cc) M/N R101AA, S/N 261CCl0469

There is a book, "Electronics for Inventors" (check Amazon), that will give you the basics of power supply design and electrical components including general scematics. Without more info on what the PS is supposed to produce in the way of voltage and current, there's not much more to be said.

SOURCE: Power supply seems to work fine until it has a

Note: I'm answering your post with the assumption that you plan on using this power supply with a computer. If this is not your intention, please disregard my solution attempt.

You likely already know this, but if you are powering a computer you're going to need a power supply with more wattage. I would recommend nothing less than a 350 watt power supply.

Follow this link to calculate how much power you need to run your computer: http://www.extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp

If you're not ready to give up on your 270 watt power supply, then remove all PCI/PCI-E devices, USB ports, extra fans, non-boot hard drives, extra DVD/CD drives etc. one at a time until the computer powers up. Anything you can do to reduce the load on the power supply will help.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa.

How do I hardwire this unit for an in home use installation?

You would need to have a stable 12 volt DC power supply that plugs into a 120 VAC outlet. You can google these, and they come in quite a few varieties. The most expensive are the variable voltage "lab grade" ones, then the bench grade fixed voltage variety, and then the cheap consumer grade 12 volt 1 or 2 amp device designed for CB's and small 12 volt devices. But this will not work, because you are transmitting and could be putting out 40 or 50 watts with that thing. So you will need a good 10 amp to 20 amp dedicated transceiver power supply, unless you just plan on receiving in which case you only need a couple of amps and the cheapie will do. It's always better to have more amperage in a power supply. You then need to think about issues like back-up power with a gel cell 12 volt battery, which also would allow you to use the cheapie supply, because you would have plenty of current to XMIT from the battery. Schematic shows a very basic 12v - 30 amp supply. Good luck!

I get code e06 on a samsung p1005j Ken

Hi there

Here are all the error codes and what you should do:

General Error Codes

E1: Water Supply Error
-Display Shows 'E1'
-Water Supply Error occurs when water level frequency does not show changes more than 100Hz or water is not supplied up to the water level presetting for 20 minutes or more at the time of initial water supply.
-To help fix this problem please check the Hot and Cold water intakes, there is a filter screen in each input valve, remove and clean these filters. ** Make sure you replace the filters, they are very important for the operation of the Washing Machine.**
-The error status can be cleared by turning POWER S/W OFF and resuming the POWER ON initial status.

E2: Water Drain Error
- Display shows E2
- In case the water level frequency is 25.5Hz or less in the initial phase of UNB-detecting cycle.
- Water Drain error can be cleared by turning POWER S/W OFF and resuming the POWER ON status.

E3: Over-Flow Error
- Display shows E3
- Over-Flow error occurs when the water level is too high. It can be cleared by turning POWER S/W OFF, turn POWER S/W ON and then run the drain cycle for 2 minutes. Water is drained prior to POWER S/W OFF and it is forced to be drained for 2 min if a frequency of more than 25.24 KHz is detected

Door Open Error:
- Display shows door
- This can fixed by closing the door

E4: Unbalance Error
- Display shows E4
- Laundry load is unbalanced; loosen any tangled laundry.
- If only one item of clothing needs washing, the final spin result might be unsatisfactory and an E4 error message will be shown in the display window.
- Unbalanced error is cleared by POWER S/W OFF and by resuming the POWER ON initial status

E6: Please see "Eb" at end of list.

E7: Pressure S/W Error
- Display shows E7

E9: Water Leakage Error

EA: Tacho Error
- Display shows EA
- This is error can be cleared by turning the power off and then on again.

Eb: Motor Triac Short Error
- Display shows Eb
- This is error can be cleared by turning the power off and then on again.

E6-EB can only be corrected through Service. Please contact Customer Service Department at 1-800-SAMSUNG (option 1-1-2) to schedule an on-site service call for english service.

Thank you for using FixYa. Have a nice day and please remember to rate this solution as 356ebb3.png if it helps you.

Kind regards
Dustin Ellse

2000 Toyota Land Cruiser having on and off trouble starting, Similar to previous post. Had batery, alternator and starter tested on the vehicle and was told the starter was bad so I pulled the starter but...

Starter problems are very common on these V-8 engines, even though it may test good on the bench it doersn't mean it's going to work in the engine everytime since the becch test doesn't have the load of turning the engine, I would not trust this starter in this case because of all the work involved in removing it again.

My ryobie bench grinder keeps tripping the rcd within a second of turning it on?

Assuming your local tech confirms that your bench grinder tests ok. The problem is probably that the grinder draws too much current for the RCD and is therefore detected as an earth leakage. High amperage devices often do that. Your best bet would be to plug it in to a socket which is on a non-rcd circuit. Maybe you have an RCD on the whole house though? I would start with returning the grinder and trying a different brand with a lower amperage/wattage rating. If that doesnt work, I would call an electrician to discuss installing a different RCD or running a separate circuit for your power tools.

Just got this tv from someone and it worked okay last night now it won't turn on and is in standby

if you have electronic experience - pull the rear panel off of the tv and check the power supply for correct voltages - busted capacitors or bulged capacitors. I'd also ask the person you got it from if it had intermittent problems turning on. If it did there is definitely a power supply issue. reply back to ad if you have any questions - please use caution though as the tv does contain voltages/amperage that can kill you if you are not experienced I'd say take it to a repair shop.

Thanks,
Michael

ignition coil not powering right

also some useful info
batterys are refurbed these days and sometimes an unlucky person can still get a dead cell battery several times even if the you bought brand new
i took mine back 4 times before i found a good one that kept its charge
dead cells dont show them selves very well on battery tests even though dead cell the tester would show good show dont think that there is something definatley wrong you could be in same ditch i was before with my batterys
alternator testers at some shops are not reliable enough i recommend a voltage tester to battery

150 W ATX Power Supply HP-150SS

All you have to do is connect the green wire (normally thinner than the rest of the cables) to any black wire. This can be done easily with a short piece of wire. If the power supply doesn?t immediately turn on (within 2 seconds) remove the wire, you may have connected it to the wrong wires, although most power supplies won?t allow a short to damage the unit. Once on, the power supply isn?t loaded so the voltages won?t be as stable as if they were used in a full PC, however it?ll be sufficient for most uses. It?s not a good idea to leave a power supply on in this fashion for a long period of time too."
