Radio/Clock reset and dome lights come on

I have the same problem with the Radio & Clock intermittently resetting.. sometimes it goes off for a few seconds but has been known to stay off for over 40 mins! This has been happening for nearly a year and the dealership and mazda canada say they've never heard of it.

Now sometimes when my clock/radio reset my interior lights come on! They have replaced my dimmer switch and said that the problem should be resolved.. I thought that seemed crazy.. drove to the first set of lights out of the dealer and sure enough it happened again! Anyone know what could be causing this? I figure if they can't figure it out, maybe someone else could! There seems to be no rhyme or reason, it has happened when the heat/air has been on or off.. when the car has just been turned on or when I've been driving for an hour.. there is no common trigger that I can figure out. If anyone can help please advise.

My radio completely died so did my interior lights, my odometer resets to 0 and keyless entry does not work all at once. i hit a bumb on the road one day and everything started to work for a few hours then it stoped again. I know its all connected, mazda told me they never heard of this and would cost me 95 per hour just to investigate.

I have no clue what's going on with the interior lights coming on. You might want to check the switch in the door that tells the car if the door is open or not. As for the radio cutting out, check the connections from it to the car. When I installed my new radio, I slid it in wrong and it pulled apart one of the wires I had twisted together and that kept my radio from working, so it could be a loose, not broken connection that would cause intermittent operation. It is also possible to have to do with the switch I mentioned. I know some cars the radio will continue to operate even once the keys are removed until the door opens and then the radio stops. I wish I could help more, but these are things to potentially check out.

Why does my clock and radio have to be reset when i turn the ignition off and then back on? my radio goes to safe mode and the clock reads 12.00

Hi. Please recheck the fuses. There should be ( I think a 5 amp) fuse that supplies the dash cluster and radio power to keep the clock and preset channels active when the ignition is off.

Clock light stays on abd drain battery if car sits for a couple days

make sure your DOME light dimmer switch is not on.If light still on the radio, then remove the 10 amp fuse for the radio. If light goes out you can either replace the radio or re-install the fuse each time to listen to your radio. there is a short somewhere causing the radio light to stay on.

The radio/clock dash light on my 2004 matrix are out! ...solution?

The 15 amp dome fuse is in the fuse box under the hood and the 15 amp CIG fuse is in the lower finish panel up under the dash on the drivers side. These are needed for the radio. The above fuses plus the 15 amp Gauge fuse in the box with the dome fuse under the hood are needed for the clock.

I also have clock removal instructions at my website www.autoclockrepair.com
