SOURCE: PS3 Power supply
That will be extremely hard to do unless you are a bench tech and know what all the marking mean on every componant and or have a schematic. I haven't heard of anyone finding the infamous part that is burning out in the first gen of Power Supplies yet either. Good luck!!

Probably the power supply has gone bad.. This happens with no warning. Sometimes it is just bad capacitors that have leaked or puffed up in the power board and a good tech can do a cheap fix by replacing them.. Other wise the PS board has to be replaced

SOURCE: POwer supply failure
Had the same problem with a WD Elements 320 GB drive, and found a WD customer service number. They are sending me a FREE replacement. I have put the details on a message somewhere on this site, but can't direct you to it.
The number from Australia is : 1800 429 861 ( routed to Singapore )
Email Address : Western Digital Customer Service . CustomerService@wdc.com
Send them details of your mailing address, drive model and serial number, and a description of your power supply. ( my power supply had a model number moulded on the back )
Hope this helps
