SOURCE: hi, I have a Sony

The light turns red to signal the fact that the power source goes in protected mode - its safety system has detected a short on one of its outputs. So yes, it could be a problem with the power source itself - some of its filtering capacitors have aged and are now drawing a lot of current thru themselves. But it's much more likely that the problem is somewhere else - in your case the most probable fault is the Y-sus board, since the fault appears when it's time to start the plasma panel.

SOURCE: Visio p42hd, no picture

Yes it does sound like the mainboard. But we have to confirm. I will see if there is a service manual for this unit in my collection but do you think you can safely work on it? Have you worked on electronics before? The last thing I want is you hurting yourself trying to fix it. HV circuits are not to be messed with unless you know about them.

SOURCE: My microwave oven doesn't give power supply when the power switch is on. What is causing this problem ?

Check the power outlet the microwave is connected to, as it might not be working. Try connecting a different device to it, if it doesnt turn on then the problem is from the outlet and you need to replace it. Otherwise, there could be a button which you need to press or sometimes you just need to close the microwave door for it to start working.

You opened the case to check the fuses, do that again and look at the devices that resemble small cans. See if the are bulging, leaking or exploded.

Red light flashing

The red light is an error code indicating that A component in the TV is failing and is not receiving correct voltage, which is causing the TV to enter " protection mode" and show an error code. Could be any part of the TV but I would start with the power supply and go from there.
Usually the error codes are not very useful and you would need to count the flashes and check a service manual for you model.

Here is some basic info on testing the power supply.

TV NO POWER?

Any bulged capacitors? If so- they caused the fuse to blow. If nothing is obviously showing fault, check the capacitors in the main portion of the power supply for shorted condition. Also look for failed resistors, and shorted TVS

When i switch on the tv it doesnt start there is just a little red light blinkin in front panel

Sounds like it could be a power supply problem I would check power supply for bad capacitors. look for bulging on the top of the caps and replace with same values.

Blinking power light

The TV has developed a fault where the start up procedure cannot be carried out & therefore the TV switches itself back off. You would need to remove the back of the TV & check if there are voltages going to your backlights (24v), are there all the other voltage rails present at start up eg 15v, 5v etc. Check the power supply to see if any of the capacitors are showing signs of stress such as a bulging on the top. If you do not have a multi meter to check voltages or feel comfortable to do this, then it would be best to contact a repair service centre.

AKAI parts for a LCT3285TA and diagram of tv

If you know how to solder and de-solder you might be able to do it. Visually inspect the capacitors in the power supply circuitry for bulging conditions and replace the ones that shows that condition.
I service these power supplies, Let me know if you need further assistance.
