SOURCE: Which knives do I need to have a full set of kitchen knives?

Actually it is much simple than it sounds, you will only need 4 types of knives to have a complete set of kitchen knives. You need a chef's knife a paring knife a filleting knife and a cleaver, that's about it. You can perform almost any cooking task there is in the kitchen with those 4 knives.

SOURCE: How much money should I spend on kitchen knives?

unless you are going to become a butcher or a chef and display your skills in public and are on a strict budget the knife sets from Ronco will do you just fine, you can spend an unlimited amount on knives, if you have a large budget, my choice would be a set of 5 knives from CUTCO, I have a set that is 25 years old, used daily and show no wear

The best knife company guarantee I have ever heard of. You will love the knives...

Hi everyone! Every now and then we all run across an item that is terrific in one way or another. Today I want to tell you about a company that manufactures excellent, durable kitchen knives, sporting knives, garden tools and other related items. What is remarkable about this company is their lifetime guarantee! Can you imagine a company that manufactures kitchen knives, which often get lots of hard, daily use, offering to keep that knife or set sharp and in good shape for ever!! All you have to do is ship the knife or set back to the factory where it will be sharpened and sometimes replaced for free and all you pay is a small shipping fee. I know......truly unheard of these days. Well the company is called CUTCO and here is a link to their site

I am directing you to their lifetime guarantee page but once you go there you can check out their products, order their products, AND even go to work for them as a part-time sales representative. WOW!! It is almost too good to be true but it is infact totally true. I have some of their knives, which I always go to first, and I have taken them up on their free sharpening service. If you aren't as pleased as I am about these knives I will be surprised. AND let me tell you this true story. I have a good friend who is an avid hunter. He was given one of the Cutco hunting knives a few years ago and used it for everything you could imagine. Well, he sent it into the company and they apparently thought it was so worn that it was not worth sharpening and repairing..... soooooooooo they gave him a brand new one as a replacement for free........... imagine a free replacement of an expensive, quality knife......Now there's a reason to buy American!!!

Hope you enjoyed reading my tip and if you decide to purchase one or more Cutco knives, enjoy it!! Joe

When buying a dive knife, should I get one with a serrated edge or a straight edge?

Serrated edges are used for cutting natural fibers such as rope and kelp and can be used with a sawing motion. The straight edge knives are better for cutting plastic, fishing line and nylon rope. You can get knives with a serrated and straight edge so you would be better to get one of these.

How much money should I spend on kitchen knives?

The most important kitchen knives are the paring knife, the cleaver, the fileting knife and the chef's knife. I personally use a German steel paring knife, which costs around $70, but you can spend as little as $20 and get an excellent knife that will do the job. On a cleaver you can spend a fortune, but you can find very good cleavers at around 10$(try at your local market).
On a chef's knife, the Prices for good knives range from around $40 to as much as you care to spend. I use a slightly smaller Japanese ceramic chef's knife and a German steel knife. As a filleting knife, I use a midlevel knife costing around $40. But there are excellent versions available for under $20.

How do I change the two blades

Operator's manual for 22-547 portable planer is here.

Page 10 and 11 discusses the process of changing the knives in detail. I'd like to reiterate the manual's comment about how sharp these knives are. Use gloves or be VERY careful.

Per manual:

2. Lower the head assembly by turning handle (B) Fig. 15.

3 Remove chip deflector (A) Fig. 19.

4. Carefully place knife setting gage (B) Fig. 20, on the cutterhead so the rounded sections are directly over the knife as shown.

5. Loosen the knife locking bar by turning the seven knife locking screws, six of which are shown at (C) Fig. 21, CLOCKWISE and carefully remove knife locking bar (D) Fig. 22, knife (E), and springs (not shown) which are located under the knife.

6. Remove the remaining knife in the same manner.

7. Thoroughly clean the knife slots, knife locking bars and screws. Check the screws. If the threads appear worn or stripped or if the heads are damaged, replace them.

8. Carefully replace the springs (not shown), knives (E) Fig. 22, and knife locking bars (D), into both slots of cutterhead (F). IMPORTANT: WHEN REPLACING KNIFE LOCKING BARS (D) AGAINST KNIVES (E), AS SHOWN IN THE CROSS-SECTIONAL ILLUSTRATION Fig. 22, MAKE CERTAIN THE BARS ARE INSTALLED AS SHOWN, WITH

9. Adjust both knives (see manual).

Need to Replace Door Handle for KitchenAid Over Range Microwave Hood Combo KHMS147KSS

Chances are the door panels separate as shown in the photo I have attached below. Panel replacement can usually be done without removing the door from the microwave. In cases where it is felt that door removal is necessary, I recommend detaching the door from the hinges. I generally do not advise removing the hinges from the microwave. Whenever the hinges are removed, great care must be taken to put them back in the very same position they were in. Failure to do so can cause microwave leakage, which can cause risk of skin burns, fire, and disruption of nearby electronic devices. You can find exploded view diagrams and order parts here: We have critical safety and disassembly info at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa:
