Zd000 Hello, I have a zd8000, HP and I need to take it apart and replace the CD/DVD drive. Do you have instructions on this and do you sell the drive. Mike

I have removed the screws above the drive and I can see the back of the drive if I remove the video card, but it will still not come out.

Why do you need to replace it? This is the link to the service manual.

You should just flip it over and on the bottom you should see a button that slides to take the drive out and install the new one the new one should just slide and lock in

You should not have to take this unit apart to replace the drive. flip the laptop over and there should be a screw with a (0) looking etched in the case like a cd rom its usually one screw. if you can not find it. only remove the ram case and see if there is one there. once you remove this only screw your drive will slide out for replacement

Good Luck!

I just found by myself, flip the laptop over and there is a cover for the hard drive, there is 1 single screw between the HD cover and the Battery. the screw is located deep within a sunken hole. Take out the screw and gently tug the DVD drive out.

I have an HP ZD8000 that will not boot up. When started the fans and DVD drive start intermittently, there are two short beeps and the nums and caps keys flash once and the screen remains black, and goes...

I would recommend to disconnect all external devices and also internal cards and devices (hard drive, cd rom driver etc) just have your motherboard processor keyboard and power supply connectors and front pannel connectors press the power button and watch the keyboard, if it flashes the lights twice or once. if once turn off the power and then remove your ram modules and turn on check if you get beeps from the motherboard buzzers, if not its is evident that the motherboard or processor is definitely bad. you need to check and replace them.

some times even a bad power supply with less supply of voltage cause this if you have another power supply (SMPS) unit check with it.

I have a hp pavilion zd8000 laptop and it wont read that it has a dvd-rw anymore. WHY?

your laser is faulty or durty
you have to clean the lens if this not helps you must replace the laser
then it is better to replace the completen DVD-RW station
A universal DVD-RW station will fit in the ZD8000 you only have to switch the adaptor inside.

This can happen when the disc to which you are trying to write is corrupted, or has been partly used. Try another disc.
