Hello, I'd like to know what compatible cpu upgrades are available for this laptop. Thanks

in laptop the only best way to upgrade is only the RAM/memory and hard drive/hard disk....because if you want to upgrade the cpu it self is not possible for the old laptop because of the new pin slot that is available in the market....and only the expert/certified technician can do this...

sounds like you have possibly upgraded the motherboard with a new CPU? Or somebody has? If you have just obtained the hardware check that the CPU that is installed is on the CPU list. This information should be on the manufacturer's website.
If the CPU is on it it may be that the board needs a bios update to be fully compliant with it.

I am assuming the message is displayed during boot up?

Toshiba Satellite C655D-S5084 CPU upgrade

It is possible but usually not worth the hassle.
Changing to another CPU chip that fits your motherboard may only show a 3-10% performance change.

See videos of CPU replacement in laptops like yours:

In general, you are better off adding more RAM (memory) or replacing the hard drive with a faster SSD (Solid State Drive) to make a laptop "fly". Your laptop can hold a max of 8 GB RAM:

In MOST laptops, slower 5400 RPM drives are used, and this is the main performance bottleneck. A 7200 RPM drive or (better yet) a SSD drive will help matters, as will more RAM (the most cost-effective speed increase).

I have a Toshiba Satellite L505D-GS6000 Laptop. I love this laptop as it works fine for me and has held up to my school and work stuff now for 3 years. I have been thinking about getting a new laptop, but...

Hey Brandon,
As I understand the same laptop but different CPU?
A laptop CPU can't really be upgraded, so if you want a upgraded CPU you need to buy a newer laptop. Unfortunately they just build laptops that way.
If that's not the question let me know and I'll try again? :)

I need to know what processor ...I can upgrade a P105-S6177 Toshiba with....I need something in the 2.4 range and an upgrade video card to 256mb

You won't be able to upgrade past 2.13ghz but you can upgrade the video card no problem. Cheapest place to get one is ebay. Just ebay for "p105 video card" and a bunch will pop up.

Hope this info helps!

Oh I would search the net and even call Toshiba to verify the fastest cpu you can get. Make sure you get the model number of the CPU that will help you track it down easily. And BEFORE you install new cpu make sure you are running the latest bios firmware version before upgrade ;)

What is the maximum processor capability for a toshiba satellite m200 model number PSMC3A-O4POO8

go to their website and enter model & model #- find a click for specs.- should list max. ram and cpu capabilities. unless cpu is removable, as a desktop- which i doubt- i have a satellite m35x 1.3. you may need to replace the mobo (mother board), which can be really hairy!! see if you can upgrade your ram- it will make a rather significant difference in performance- can also install larger capacity hd. try 'flashing'- upgrading your bios- if your system isn't 'brand new'! you may have that option on the toshiba website.
good luck!

Which processor can I upgrade to?

Honestly, it is normally not worth it to upgrade the cpu on a laptop. Laptops are build to deal with a certain amount of heat and adding a faster cpu can cause the current cpu cooling fans to not get the job done anymore. You will seem instability in your system and could possibly damage it due to over heating.

With that said you would only be able to upgrade to a very slightly higher speed cpu and your money would be better spent else where. Some good ways to speed up a laptop are max out your memory or install a faster hard drive. For example if your current drive is a stock 5400rpm unit a 7200rpm drive would give you a nice boost. You could also look into a solid state option.

Both these upgrades will give your laptop a better boost without the hassle and risk of a cpu upgrade.
