Question about Kenmore Washing Machines
We have a water softener, the washer is inside, upstairs 2nd floor laundry room. Two shocks were replaced 9 months ago, and the first service tech, replaced them again (thinking that was causing the knocking sound). There is white shredded plastic coming onto the clothes. And when the soap dispenser unit is removed, the 'plastic' drum' is cracked through. Please advise asap?
Time to replace it with one that does not have plastic parts in the drum

The pipe from the soap dispenser to the tub is quite large, it seems as if the water isn't getting out of the dispenser quick enough. Pull the whole dispenser out of the machine. There is a release clip at the back of the cup with the tray fully open. Clean out all soap residue and scum. Sometimes there is also a spot or setting for liquid or powder detergent. Adjust accordingly. Reassemble and try it again.

Hi dlypooh, thought I would post the solution here as well for anybody who needs to do a search in the future...
Remove the dispenser, pour water into the opening and make sure water can get into the machine freely. Inspect the opening for soap build up.
If water goes down slowly (re: dlypooh), open the washer door and feel around the bellow for anything blocking the water inlet port into the washer (socks can sometimes get wedged up there and cause a blockage).
If it all checks out ok, make sure the machine is properly leveled and not leaning forward.
Hope that helps!

SOURCE: Fabric softener not draining
Remove the dispenser drawer by pushing down on the tab at the center back and pulling drawer out. Now, remove the top of the fabric softener compartment and the parts of the soap dispenser and clean them all out. An old toothbrush often helps. Reassemble and replace. They should siphon out now.

We had a similar problem with water coming out of the soap dispenser when the washer was run. I assumed that it was a problem with the water draining as everyone else posted here. I took off the front panel, got rid of the junk and drained it. Although this was great, it did not solve the original problem. It turns out that there was a sock stuck in between where the water comes out of the soap dispenser and in to the main compartment. Pulled it out with a needle nose plier and good to go. Thanks to everyone for their input here.

Please use this link to view an exploded view of your washer.
You cannot remove the baffles without disassembling the entire tub assemblys.
To access the inside of the washer cabinet remove the two or three phillips head screws at the bottom of the front of the washer and the lower panel below the door will come off to give you access.
If your ring is anywhere it is probably caught inside the lint/debris trap #40 on the diagram. You will want to remove the entire rubber drain boot that connects between the pump and the bottom of the outer tub. Also try to reach inside the tub with your hand through the hole where the rubber drain boot connected if you do not find it in the lint trap.
I would not recommend anyone other than a skilled technician attempt to disassemble the wash tubs on this machine.
Good luck to you on this!!

Testimonial: "Thank you very much for the info. I did realize the front cover comes off after I had the machine on its side. With the lower front cover removed, and the access slot in the bottom floor of the cabinet gave the room I needed to get the hose clamps back on. I did find my ring and about &2.00 in change. What a releif, the world is right agsin!. I'm glad I did not force the baffle off. Sounds like I would have had to replace it."
