Question about Vizio Televison & Video

1 Answer

When we turn our Vizio D500I-B1 on we get a black screen with audio. If I leave the TV unplugged from the wall over night it will turn on and work perfectly until I turn it off again. Any ideas?

When you did disconnect it from the wall socket, it has been reset, in terms of program only. Just do a factory reset to this set, and then check. There are two methods to reset TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight is better. This procedure will make it a hard reset. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Service mode entry, adjust and exit procedure to many popular brand TVs are given. Never forget to exit the service mode, after all adjustments have been done.

The main power supply regulator section circuit fault. Either it will be a separate board, or the part of main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.

In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.
Before going further; try a hard reset first. If it does not help you, replace the main digital board. There are two methods to reset TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. Vizio e241i-b1 turns on, works for any input for 2-4 minutes, then screen freezes while long/continuous beep comes through speakers, tv then shuts itself off. can be restarted but does the same thing at...

Sounds like you have a bad capacitor. Likely overheating. Likely going to need service or replacement.

Google how to spot a bad capacitor. They pop up and get a brown dot in the center. They are easy to spot.

TV has no picture, no sound just the VIZIO logo light is on the screen.

Did you check out the power supply for proper operation since both the audio and video are gone? If PS is good then the problem may very well be on main board.

My Vizio e500i-b1 LEDtv went out last night. How can i tell if it's the main board or the tcon board that isn't functioning?

I would verify the voltages on the power supply board first because an improper voltage to a circuit board may make that board look bad.

Black screen with sound

My 47" LCD Smart T.V. was working fine last night. I got up this morning and I have sound but no picture. The VIZIO icon lights up as usual but I get no picture, only sound. From the time I turned it on, nothing appeared on the screen. I have already tried unplugging it for a while and still nothing.
