Question about Samsung FPT5084 50 in. Plasma HDTV
You have the textbook case of screen failure. Either start working on the corresponding boards to your failure location (upper right), or shell out for a new TV. Actually sometimes it could be as simple as a loose cable to one of those boards, but I would think the screen itself will need to get replaced. If it is still under warranty, then don't even attempt to open it as that will void the warranty, otherwise if you have no electrical expertise, then I would advise that you get someone who has worked on these tvs to have a look at it. Let me know how this works out.

Your closed caption is on, this could be on in the tvs setting or the cable/sat box settings. Change the setting to "off" on both the tv and the box and it should be gone. This happens alot when the tv remote is sat on or little hands get it, you should have a button right on the remote labled CC or caption, try this first before going into settings
