Sounds like a wiring problem with motor. Hot wire motor and try again. This would eliminate contactor being problem. Possibly bad "new" motor. Check all terminals. L1 to g for 120 l2 to g for 120. L1 and l2 for 240

HJA2540 cooker hood fan not working. Lights work and little red light comes on when switches for fan speeds are pressed so has the fan gone or is it the capacitor? Many thanks Steve

Unless that's a much bigger range hood than I imagine, there won't be any capacitor - the motor will be of a shaded-pole design. If you have a multimeter, you could measure for voltage on the motor wires when the motor should be running - if reasonable voltage is there but the motor isn't spinning, then the motor's dirty or unlubricated or dead. If no reasonable voltage is present, the electronic controller has failed.

Fan does not run

Check to make sure that it has voltage if not see if the switch needs replacing, if it does then replace the shaded pole motor (from any appliance parts supply) with any after market one that turns the same direction and has the same shaft length, speed. If the fan blade doesn't fit they can supply one for the new motor that is a similar diameter

Go to www.searspartsdirect.com enter your model number and select model number search.

Here you can see a diagram of the unit. The fan motor cost 95 dollars.

It depends on the type of noise it is making.

These motors when failing tend to hum when trying to start which is a sign of a dry bearing.

Rattling sounds or ting ting ting sounds are either a lose fan blade (check the cheap retaining clip on the front of the shaft .. it may have wiggled forward causing the blade to wobble) or a lose mounting screw.

Also I can't tell from the diagram how close the fan is to the drip tray(tray evaporator) These fans not only aid in removing heat from the condenser.. they help evaporate the water in the drip tray.

If you remove the motor.. have it tested before replacing it. At a hundred bucks it's worth a trip to a good electric motor shop. They generally will test it for free.

If you are able to determine the voltage and hook it up out of the cabinet you may save yourself a trip.

Chances are it's a lose mounting screw or that front blade retaining clip.

Best of luck!

as u written here that the power is their in coil voltage than check for the neutral connection of the coil ,if it potential voltage across the coil is normal change the contacts coil & buy a new one with the same potential that u have in your home.

Hobart H600 Double Pole Breaker

You need to get a new electrician; a real electrician would read the power requirements on the motor name plate and install the correct voltage and amperage circuit.

A single pole breaker does not supply the same voltage as a double pole breaker. It hums because the voltage is wrong

I have 6 outlets that do not work.

I would start by determining if these 6 outlets are on the same circuit. Also I am usually not too confident in the non contact voltage tester you are using. They tend to give false positives if they contact anything or even if you move them fast. I would invest in an inexpensive multimeter whcih will allow you to test actual voltage across the poles and ground and also check for continuity between poles/ground (WITH CIRCUIT OFF ONLY).

Did these outlets previously work properly?
