Lb (rather than L6) indicates a low battery. You need to replace the 9V battery in the carbon monoxide detector. The Err suggests an internal error but could just be due to the low battery.

If the Err persists after you replace the battery, press the peak level button (the right hand button) and check for an additional error code. If the Err message continues, replace the Night Hawk unit. If the unit is still under warranty, contact the manufacturer. Most of these units have a 10 year warranty. There are several models available from Kidde. The manual is available on the product site. For the KN-COPP-3 Night Hawk carbon monoxide detector, the documentation is available here: http://www.kidde.com/home-safety/en/us/products/fire-safety/co-alarms/kn-copp-3/ . Click on the Documents tab. The manual for the KN-COPP-3 999-0100 is here: http://www.utcccs-cdn.com/hvac/docs/2001/Public/06/User_Guide_KN-COPP-3_900-0100.pdf .

I hope this helps.

Beeping sound and message" battery low""

All smoke detectors need batteries often. The voltage must be 1.5 volts higher than what the voltage says on the battery used. Also electronics these days are touchy that you only use alkaline. So buy a new brand name alkaline that hasn't been on the shelve very long. Never use a used battery from another device in the house. Never buy the cheapest deal battery from a dollar store etc. Once the battery is replaced press the test button for 10 to 15 seconds to reset all. If you don't press the test button it may continue to beep or warn you. If you press the button just enough to test the alarm it may not reset properly. The longer 10 to 15 second test usually solves all issues.

The night hawk carbon monoxide alram is beeping and has an L6 error.

"L6" is actually "Lb" which means "Low battery". If you just bought the battery it may be defective. Try a different, known-good one. If it works OK, return the first one for a refund.Make sure you are buying brand-name batteries, EverReady, DuraCell, etc. not some cheap knock-off brand you may never have heard of. There is absolutely no quality control or minimum performance specifications for batteries that are marketed in the US and there is some REAL trash out there. If known-good batteries are not lasting at least a year in the unit, call the Kidde "Hotline" at 1-800-880-6788 and discuss the problem with their technical support section; you may be due a warranty replacement if the unit is still in warranty, usually 5 or 7 years depending on the manufacturing date. *Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer, despite the handle. A reading of 221 ppm carbon monoxide gas is a dangerous level that should be taken seriously. You could try a new battery and reset the detector. If in doubt, always err on the cautious side and have the apartment checked by a professional or by the local fire department.

A new carbon monoxide detector is a small investment that may prevent carbon monoxide poisoning or death.

Hopefully you have found a solution for your Carbon Monoxide Detector issue of October 4, 2009. The best solution for a questionable CO dectector is a replacement.

A Carbon Monoxide Detector is the only thing that will read, detect and sound an alert when reads dangerous levels of CO levels in your house. A defective carbon monoxide detector will give you and your family a false sense of security and will give you no protection.

Whenever in doubt, always err on the safe side and replace Carbon Monoxide Dectectors, your life depends on it.
