This happens fast enough that you perceive a significant reduction in the outside noise getting to your ears.

The airspace inside the earcup is a tuned chamber defined by the foam in the ear cushion. This is important because with the inside microphone in close proximity, but at a 90-degree angle to the speaker, the circuit must be designed to eliminate the normal feedback that occurs. When you press the earcup close to your ear, you are changing the size and shape of the air chamber inside of the earcup thus directing more of the speaker sound toward the microphone than the design can compensate for causing audio feedback to occur. The sound quality in my beats studios is poor


Either get a replacement pair, or get some Sony MDR-1R for 170 Pounds or around 300 dollars
from john lewis, Sony e.g. fantastic headphones, I'm actually using them now and they sound so much better than the beats, and look better

How to replace ear cushion on bose QC 3 headphone


The ear cushions are held on the earcup with six snap fasteners, three on each side. To remove the ear cushion, simply pull it away from the earcup carefully so that you do not break the plastic snap tabs.

It should not be necessary to pry the ear cushion off with a sharp object, but if you do, be careful. There is also a thin gasket seal between the earcup and the ear cushion, take care not to damage it.

If you need to replace the ear cushions with new ones, they are available from Bose for $35/pair.

Jvc headphones retractable cord


The JVC HA-NC250s are a new version of their previous model 100, and JVC claims that they will cancel up to 85% of ambient noise, coupled with better sound. In this case, JVC claims up to 16.5 db reduction at 150 kHz. These on-the-ear headphones are very lightweight at 5.3 ounces and are extremely comfortable. The head band has a reasonable amount of sliding expansion for bigger heads, and the oblong ear pieces themselves rotate and fold flat for storage. JVC uses memory foam on the earpieces, as well as double housing, for extra noise isolation. The earpieces have 40 mm neodymium drivers, which are the same size and type that the Creative Aurvanas offer.The JVC HA-NC250 noise canceling headphones. Note the ear-cushion instruction tab that explains how to replace the hidden battery.

The NC250s come in a semi-rigid black case with a dual airline-plug adapter, a mini-to-RCA phono plug adapter and a 4' detachable headphone cord. JVC includes one AAA battery, which should last approximately 50 hours. A simple sliding switch on the right side turns the noise reduction on along with a small red LED. Learning how to add the battery to the headphones required that I study JVC's user manual. The process involves having to remove the earpiece covering to get to the battery compartment, which isn't at all obvious.

possibly the easiest way is to get a cheap similar looking earphones, and rip the sponge off.
do look at dollar shops.

Feedback sound like wind noise in right headphone of QC3, starts quietly and gradually gains in strength. Sometimes disappears, then comes back again. No sign of moisture in battery compartment. Any ideas?

When the foam has weakened or deteriorated to the point that the size and shape of the chamber cannot be maintained, more of the speaker sound is directed toward the microphone than the design can compensate for causing audio feedback to occur. This also happens when the lower half of the ear cushion is compressed. Since this is occuring during normal use,
it may be time to replace the ear cushions. They are available from Bose for $35 per pair.
