The internal battery needs replacement. You can change it yourself if you are comfortable with soldering, and are mechanically inclined.
Search the internet for:
"Replace battery Garmin c330" You'll need a small Philips head screwdriver to open the case, and to remove the battery holder. It is tricky to put the antenna back, so be careful.

Garmin Street pilot C340 has always worked. This morning it did not turn on. I relpaced the fuse in cord. Any other ideas?

Try charging it from the WALL charger. The battery inside the unit may not be too great. Try it - over night from the WALL charge -not the PC charger. 8de415c.jpg

Why does my c340 keep losing satellite reception

Hello there:
please follow these instruction and this should help if not let me know and i willcontinue to get you more information for you
nstructions
  1. Step 1 Calibrate the screen of the Garmin StreetPilot C340. If the touch screen does not seem to respond when you hit it with your finger or a stylus, you may need to calibrate it. To do this, turn the unit off and then hold down the "Power" key for approximately one minute. You will see a calibration screen come up that will recalibrate the GPS2_bing.gif unit.
  2. Step 2 Reset the Garmin StreetPilot C340. If your GPS unit is not responding or is stuck on a particular screen, it may need to be reset in order to operate. To reset, remove the face plate of the unit by gently prying it off. Locate the "Reset" button under the face plate and press down in order to restart the device.
  3. Step 3 Change the fuse of the Garmin StreetPilot C340. If the fuse blows on the GPS, you will need to make a replacement using an ACG/3AG 2 amp fuse. Unscrew the adapter cord at the end and remove the fuse found there. Put in the new fuse to see if this returns function to the unit.
  4. Step 4 Update the software for your Garmin StreetPilot C340. If the GPS is not providing you with correct directional information, you may need to update the software or download new maps onto the device. Connect the Garmin StreetPilot C340 with the USB cord to your PC and log on the Garmin website for available updates.

Garmin will not charge using car charger. The fuse is intact. It will charge using usb port per computer. Any ideas?

meter out the cable and see if you are getting anything out of the car charger, of course while the car is running. If you are getting no juice, then either the fuse for the cig lighter is bad or the car adapter is bad. either way, easy fix. Good luck!

Will not charge witg car charger

you'll need to use a usb cord to recharge it once the battery gets to real low. For some reason the car charger won't work. you can plug it in to the usb port on your computer or you can get a car charger that has a usb connection on the end.

Garmin C340 Street Pilot

I had the same problem. Found out that the fuse had blown in the power cord. I bought a new fuse from radio shack and have not had the low battery since.

Car charger fuse

The fuse is just inside the tip that plugs in the car lighter. You screw it off and out comes the fuse. As for the fuse you can go to any local electronics store with the fuse that you get out of the charger and ask if they have it.

My Garmin C340 is dead!!!!

I had the same problem on a trip. Required two fixes and once I did this the unit worked fine.
1. Replace the fuse in the car adapter (reason it wasn't charging when I used it in the car).
2. See the users manual on page 31 regarding resetting your C340.

Garmin c340

Will the device turn on without the cord (on battery power)? If not then the cord is not the issue most likely. To make sure, you can use the USB cable and try charging via that hooked up to your computer (make sure computer is on). Give it sometime to charge (30mins) and see if you can get it to turn on. If this doesn't work, I think the next best thing is to contact Garmin support.

Internal battery won't charge

Common issue. Steps to troubleshoot/solve:
1. Pull off face, press reset tab.
2. If unit wont turn on or if turns off immediately, connect to home computer using mini usb on side of gps (any usb cord that fits will do). This will charge the internal gps battery, which is discharged.
3. You will not be able to see the gps charge indicator while the usb cord is plugged into the unit. To check charge level, disconnect it, turn it on, and note the large "battery" icon.
4 Do you have a dead internal battery? If the gps holds a charge from your computer usb port, you don't.
5. If you have a dead battery, Google DIY replacement. With some soldering it can done for $15 total.
6. If you don't have a dead battery, the issue is charging from the cigarette lighter socket. Your car socket may have blown a fuse (check car manual). Your charger unit may have blown a fuse (unscrew the tip, check fuse inside). Also, some car sockets don't work when the ignition is off. Test yours.
7. There is a good chance the connection of the charger wire to the gps cradle is the problem. Fiddle with that. Replacement cradles are available for the c340 at about $25.
8. If your unit is not charging from the cradle/socket, buy a 12v usb cord. Plug into socket and into usb port of the gps. This is a workaround or alternative to buying a new cradle.
9. IMPORTANT: observe the "battery" icon while driving, esp. if you have doubts about charging. Basically, if you can see the icon, you're not connected to an outside (car or computer) power source. That is, if you can see the battery-charge indication, it means your battery is currently discharging and unless you get another power source to work it will be dead in a few hours.
