Question about Home Security

Open Question

I have a Defiant 180 motion sensor light by my detached garage.

It is not sensing, there is no red light , the fuse is no blown, the switch is on and the 2 other Defiant motion sensors light I have on my house work fine, they are higher up from the ground. Could it be because it snowed a ton and the garage light is closer to the ground? The lights are Barely a year old. YIKES!

SOURCE: Defiant flood light 180 degree led: 1. Instruction manual says to put a maximum of one such light on a wall switch. Why can I not have 2? 2.it has photo sensor in addition to a motion sensor? Thx.

Maybe two light fixtures each with photo sensors and the lights being near each other, might trigger both sensors to react to each other and turn lights on and off rapidly.

I bought and installed the light below at home depot. It worked for a week. Now it still has power, bulbs work but the motion sensor doesn't activate the lights

Take it back, its faulty.

There is a sensitivity setting somewhere, try moving all the way up and then down a bit.

The motion light says it has a manual override. I thought this was to be able to turn the light on so it wont shut off until I turn it off. Is this what the manual override means?

Good afternoon Amanda

There is a 'Dusk to Dawn' mode in these lights in which it will turn on continuously for 6 hours once it senses dusk, and then go back to the automated sensing mode for the rest of the night. This is triggered by turning power on and off twice within three seconds. See the manual here (

If you follow this link, there is a forum with the same question and a walk-through of how to toggle the switch for manual mode.

That should get you off to the races. Good Luck!

I have set all the switches to the left TEST, Low sensitivity and Dual brite OFF and this light stays on all night??

putting the switches on test bypasses all the sensors leaving the light on all the time the test selection is only there to see if the light is working

I have a 180 degree Defiant Outdoor Motion Security Light. It was working fine for 2 weeks, but now it stays on all the time. I've tried toggling it to Test and then back to 1 Minute and no change.

I am having the same problem. The manual says to avoid plugging into the same circuit as motors & fluorescent lights. Mine is on the same circuit as a freezer. I'm going to try changing the AC outlet to see if that helps. Good luck!

Looking for a wall motion switch that has a 180 degree side view

Try the GE Motion sensing switch found at Wal-Mart on the electrical asile. I believe it is made by JASCO Products. I use this is my garage and closets without an problems.
