Your Cable box might need to be reprogrammed. Call the cable company and they will drive you thru the steps to program it, this way you will get the channels. This process might take you 30-45 minutes.

First, you need to set the playstation to display on HDMI out.
Plug the HDMI cable into the TV and into the PS3.
Use the PS3 to setup the video settings to 720p which every HDTV can display. Then switch the TV-out to HDMI and it should display.
Also consult your televisions manual to set it up for HDMI input as well. Make sure that the TV allows sound through the HDMI port as some older HDTV's didn't have that ability.

Have tried the remote, most new tvs have a control panel lock that can accidently be activated, it usually takes the remote to undo the lock.
