You might have something loose inside. have you opened it and checked for cables that might be rubbing against a fan or even a loose card in a slot.

Hello,
First off, try going to BIOS. Usually you have to tap either F2 or Delete on dell computers while booting up to enter BIOS. If you're successful, and you're in BIOS, observe for a few minutes if it will freeze while in BIOS. If it doesn't then you might need to reinstall windows. If it freezes in BIOS as well, then there's a hardware malfunction/problem. That will be the time to have a technician check the hardware on your desktop.

Failed at checkpoint [PnP1]/ dell optiplex GX270 series

PCI Slot 1 problem it appears. This means opening the case and reseating all the above-board cards such as video, audio, ethernet, etc.

Shut down the computer and unplug it. Press and hold the power button for a slow count of at least 10. Then you may open the case. How your case opens depends on the model. If this computer is what I think it is and you're unfamiliar with going inside the case I would suggest taking it to a repair shop. The Optiplex computers I've been inside of of are awkward to work with.

Booting failed at checkpoint [WRIT}

May be a cpu problem. Make sure the fan is on the cpu and that it is running. If the fan is running you may need to change the thermal compound that is between the cpu and heat sink. If that doesn't work , the next step would be to try to use another cpu that you know is good and see if it fixes your problem.

The Dell GX270 small form factor has an integrated NIC card that is built into the motherboard.

Dell Optiplex GX270 lockup and s3 standby lockup

have you tried changing your boot sequence (setting your hd as first boot source?) in set-up?
just asking- if you still have cd as first boot device, it should go to second choice (hd?), with no problem, but you might try re-setting to manufacturers settings, and go from there! is it set for pnp support? check all this stuff!
amber means 'standbye- or sleep mode'- tapping a key, or mouse button should bring it out. every manufacturer has their 'little quirks', that can be confusing!!
good luck!

Dell Optiplex GX270 - Freezes up!

You may have either a memory chip gone bad or the CPU overheating. Withot seeing it and testing it's hard to tell you which. But one thing you can try is if you have 2 RAM installed, try to remove 1 and see if the problem continues. If so, change them and put the one you removed back and remove the other. if it continues then you may have an overheating problem.

Otherwise, you can try a SCANDISK and DEFRAG to clean up the hard drive and data.
