SOURCE: homelite hedge trimmer , motor runs but blades do

Had the same problem: when I turn on the trimmer, the motor would hum but the blades won't move.
What I did:
1. Sprayed a ton of wd40 between the blades
2. Took a screwdriver and kinda wedged it between the blades to get them unstuck. Also removed some guck between the blades.
And it worked!

Have a echo 150 gas hedge trimmer motor runs blades don't move what could cause that

Inside the bottom panel, is where the grease etc is... you can take the cover off to make sure it's greased up inside, if it's running and the blades aren't moving when you throttle it, then they can be siezed , or the gear under the panel is off line or broke.

I have a petrol hedge trimmer TRY26PHTA. The engine will start fine but the blades will not move

If the engine starts 'fine" then it has not seized.

Many, if not most, hedge trimmers are , for safety, equipped with a "CENTRIFUGAL CLUTCH" between the engine and the blade to prevent blade operation unless the engine is at full RPM.

IF your machine is so equipped, it's possible that the clutch is worn and slipping so badly that the blade can't move.

Do I need toil this Remington 22in electric hedge trimmer?

It's always a good idea to oil the blade of a hedge trimmer with WD40 or similar otherwise the sap from branches will eventually build up a coating on the blades and increase friction.

Motor runs, but blades dont move

with engine off, take a screw driver and manually move the blades to make sure that they are not jammed. Then spray the blades down with wd-40 oil and they should move freely again.

Hedge trimmer blade not moving

I have a Troy-Bilt gas powered hedge trimmer. My blades would not move. After tearing it apart, I found that there were some spacers under the 5 or 6 screws along the blades. These spacers are steel and designed so that you don't overtighten the screws. However, around those steel spacers, there is a teflon type material that makes the oval shape of the slot. That teflon had fallen apart and lodged so that the blades would not move. I removed the teflon and put the spacers back in and it now works fine. There is a little play between the spacer and the edge of the slot and it will probably eventually wear out but at least I got a few more cuttings off of it.
