Why won't cd play on my laptop it plays on tv

eject the cd-rom and clean the optical lens inside. clean it with the optical cleaner, do not touch the optical lens with your finger or any hard object. let the cd/dvd cleaning disc do the cleaning process.,

Dealing with optical cables

One of the most important tips when dealing with optical cables, is to clean the optical connectors, it has been noticed that connectors are the most common source for optical links failure, the simplest way to clean an optical connector is to use a tool called "one click cleaner", the same is called "IBC brand cleaner" for other manufacturers.

Wireless Optical Mouse Cleaning

Optical Mouse Cleaning is a problem for many. The mouse cursor seems to randomly jumping around and uncontrolable, which is caused by dirt on the optical beam. To prevent this from happening, place a piece of clear scotch tap over the optical lens and it will prevent dirt from getting into the lens. Then you won't have problems caused by dirt.

My CanonPC940 won't grab paper and push it through to print-also makes a a loud "grinding" noise. How can I fix this?

Sounds like a tire may have slid off of a wheel. Yes they have wheels. Also paper soaks up water like a sponge always keep your paper in the wrapper it comes in and the top side of the paper is where the seam is. Make sure you put the paper in so that the top side is the side going through the machine. I do how ever believe you have a wheel or gear out of place.

Cleaning and lubrication

Cleaning a lens should only be done with a non-scratching cloth and tissues designed for optics; moistened with plain water or cleaning solution designed for optics. Use of paper towels, glass cleaners, ammonia, etc. can scratch and strip special optical coatings from lenses. Apply water or solution to cloth or tissue - not to optics.

Do not lubricate lenses. Lubes attract dirt and dust and can seep into the lens and gum up aperture blades and eventually cause them to stick. Nearly all lenses do NOT require lubrication. Lenses should be cleaned professionally when not working correctly.

Good luck!

You can also try some normal dish washing soap. Gently use it and with a softly soaked clean rag.. Most of the dirt is dust and fat from our hands..

My portable DVD player keeps displaying 'no disc'. Have tried cleaning the disc and have tried others

The small eye on the player is called the optic. Cleaning discs (AKA dvdDR.) use small brushes to clean the optic. If you have tried this you will need to attempt an optic replacement or an entire drive replacement.

Please accept if this has been helpful :)

The figure 8 with a check mark is the paper jam indicator. The machine thinks there is a paper jam somewhere. Just check the whole machine inside and out, including the bottom paper tray. Hopefully you can get the jam reset and make sure the toner is ok. As long as the box that the toner came out of has E20, E31 or E40 you should be fine on the toner.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.

I have a ricoh 2232c. Do you know how I can clean

In order to clean the optics, you have to remove the two optic covers (one over the **** glass on the left and one on the rear side of the main platen glass). Each cover should have 2 or 3 screws.

Clean the **** glass and platen glass with alcohol and a lint-free rag (both sides) and blow compressed air onto the mirrors, lamp, and reflector. It's a good idea to turn off the copier before doing this.

When reassembling, clean the white strip on the underside of the **** glass cover as well.

It is clear symptoms of bad optical laser or dirty optical lens.
Please put lens cleaning CD in player, play that CD to clean dust on optical lens surface. If that helps, fine or replace optical laser block in player.
I can provide you optical lens part number, please confirm is it Sony CDP-CX153 cd player or any other model.
Thanks.
