Printer not picking up paper properly

Hello: my printer isn't picking up paper properly; the top left corner of sheets gets crunched up, and the overall document is printed at an angle. Any ideas what the problem might be?

Thanks; I wiggled everything around a little, and that helped with the pick-up (no more scrunching), but the printer is still printing at a bit of an angle (sloping up from left to right about 15 degrees).

This is known as skew printing and is usually caused by a feed error. Try cleaning the rollers with purified water, and perhaps blow some air through to clean out an excess of dust. I couldn't find any workarounds for skew at the HP site, but you could try a hardware self-test and see if it reports any error conditions, then look these up online at the HP site. Also see here.

    Good luck!

Replace the feed rollers to check them just pinch the end and it slides off make sure when reinstalling or installing new ones they click or lock in place. Rollers should show some tread just like a car tire if they are slick and shiny they are too worn to consistently feed paper without slipping skewing or jamming.

Stating that there is no paper but there is paper in the tray

Usually this means that the paper can't be picked up. First take out the paper and check for curled edges or wrinkled paper. Discard damaged pages. Check for torn corners and remove any small foreign objects. Make sure that the paper is aligned properly when you return the paper to the tray. If you only have a few sheets in the paper tray, add more paper.

Next check if the rollers are dirty. They can be cleaned with a damp lint-free cloth. (Just a little water is needed.) Check that the feed mechanism is undamaged. My home inkjet printer (an HP OfficeJet 7000) had a part of the paper lift mechanism break a few days ago. If you pushed the top sheet of paper just right, the printer would still pick it up. We noticed a loose piece when we opened the back of the printer for the straight-through paper feed. After attempting to replace that piece, we looked closer and another part fell out of the printer.

Some find it worthwhile to take apart the printer and re-attach the parts. If the printer is still under warranty, let HP do the job.

I hope this helps.

The print is great but the printer is curving both ends of the paper up. It seems like its going through too many rollers ?

Hello,
the problem could be in too much moisture on paper. Try to insert new fresh paper or flip upside down the existing paper in cassette.
Also if the paper isn't fixed in cassette by means of paper holders on each side, paper can go loose while pick up and cause corners and scratches.

Also this can happen if something is in paper path, for inspection you need to dismantle half of printer... call service if isn't problem in moisture of paper.

Can Lexmark x2470 scan and print a double sided document?

after reading the manual, http://www.lexmark.com/publications/pdfs/2007/2400/ug_en.pdf, yes it is possible - not that it tells you how to do it though so read on.
Until you become familiar with the process just use one sheet of paper at a time in the printer.
As you know, in the scanner the top right of your document goes to the right hand front corner of the scan bed (the clear window), place the page on the scanner and scan.
Pick up the printed sheet of paper and flip it so the left hand side edge is now in your right hand and the right hand edge is now in your left hand and you are now looking at the blank side of the paper.
Insert the page back into the sheetfeeder.
Flip the page to copy in the scanner so the rearmost edge of the paper is now to the front of the scan bed and the front edge of the paper is now towards the rear (you should now be looking at the page you scanned previously).
Scan the page.
you should have now scanned both sides of one sheet of paper to another sheet of paper.
as your printer does not have a sheet feeder for the scanner you have to do the process manually. hope this helps.

Printer pick-up 2 or more paper sheets at a time followed by PAPER JAM message no matter wich tray I use

I had the same problem before and was able to track it down to the rubber coated wheel used to pull out paper sheets from the tray. Over time it gets covered with fine dust from the paper so much, it does not provide enough friction to pull out one sheet properly on the first turn. When it continues to the second revolution, it takes two sheets out of the tray.
My works-got-me fix for this problem was to clean the wheel properly with a slightly damp (not soaking wet!) cloth. Best results come from gently wiping left to right, not in direction of the wheel's rotation. You will need to rinse the cloth a few times and repeat, the paper dust has a tendency to convert to a smeary goo if it gets wet, but will come off eventually.
When the rubber wheel is clean, give it time to dry properly before use of the printer again. Try to use higher quality paper, with cheap paper the problem occurs more frequently.

My printer will not print from my lap top. Printer will let me copy, but not print from the computer. Someone suggested that I uninstall and then reinstall program, but I cannot locate the disk. Anyone...

If it worked fine and it indicates a ppaper jam, open the top of the printer and check the left and right corner where the rollers are to make sure their is not a piece from a corner of a sheet. A small piece of paper will give paper jam.

Unplug the printer, replug back in. It should work. If not, open the back to make sure their is not a sheet sutck there by accident. thanks

Printer crunching paper

either it's a paper stuck under roller, or along that side of the raceway, or the roller on that side is dirty, and can't grab the paper well.
