M60 cub cadet zero turn. What causes it to shut off?

There is also a safety switch for each of control arms, they both have to be in the neutral position. You may have to adjust the arms.
Are you checking the resistance at the switches?

How do you adjust brakes on a Husqvarna RZ 5424 lawn mower

This unit uses a geared brake. There is an adjustment nut on the actuating arm that operates the brake.
Check the inside of the Hydro-Gear units locate the brake arm lever, (bottom forward location on the transmission). You will see the adjuster nut on the brake arm.

How do I adjust the brakes on my bolens lawn tractor

depends on what gear box you have but usualy the brake is on the left side of the gearbox, there will be a rod or spring attatched to an arm, in the centre of the arm at the bottom will be a nut, either a nyloc nut or a castleated nut which will have a split pin running through it. all you have to do to adjust the brake is turn the centre nut clockwise. i have attached a pic of a gearbox and the arm i mentioned is number 41 in the diagram

I have a poulan pro PR1842STC; the blades won't stop turning after I disengage the mower belt

On the top of the mower deck, there is a spring that will pull to disengage the blade idler pulley. At the same time, it will release two springloaded arms with brakes that press on the pulleys at the top of the blade spindles. On top of the mower deck at the back, the two spring loaded arms may be held out of the braking position by a cam. Make sure the cam is free to allow the blade brakes to activate when you disengage the blades. If arms are out of alignment, or the parts are too worn, the blade brakes won't move and the blades keep spinning, even after you have disengaged and the safety switch is deactivated. This is a dangerous situation and should be fixed soon. Good luck.

How do I adjust brake pedal on my mower

  1. Press down on the clutch pedal and set the parking brake.
  2. 2Identify the brake adjustment feature, located below the brake operating arm. It includes a jam nut, regular nut and rod. Measure the distance between the brake operating arm and the regular nut. The regular nut is distinct from the jam nut -- the jam nut is the outer nut.
  3. 3Loosen the jam nut and turn the regular nut so that it's exactly 1-1/2 inches between the arm and regular nut. Double-check that the parking brake is engaged, then re-tighten the jam nut so it abuts the regular nut and holds it in place at the correct distance. Try the riding mower stopping procedure again in a safe place.

Mower doesn't stop when drive pedal released

Chances are your parking brake is out of adjustment. Check to see if setting the parking brake stops the tractor completely from being pushed forward and backward. If not, the adjustment is usually just a nut or two on a rod above the axle in the rear of the tractor. Otherwise it could be that the drive belt is too tight but this would probably lead to a burning smell and not being able to shift in and out of neutral well.

Hydrostatic lawnmower doesn'i want to move

There will not be any actual adjust in the unit, there will be some adjustment in the rods from the hand/foot lever, if you can see the arm moving freely on the unit when you work the foot/hand lever it is probably not a linkage problem, if there is an external brake disc, make sure the brake is not binding, finally somewhere on the unit will be a bypass lever for push mode, make sure this has not been engaged.

My break light swithes on sometimes without me even pressing the breaks. The break light also sometimes stays on even when I have taken my feet off the break. I have tried changed the break light switch...

Did you adjust the brake light switch correctly? To adjust the brake light switch, first press the brake pedal down a few inches, then pull the switch plunger rod out of the switch toward the brake pedal arm, as far as you can without using excessive force. Next, return the brake pedal to the pedal stop position against the pedal stop and pull the brake pedal toward the rear to push the brake light switch actuating plunger rod into the switch housing limited by the travel of the brake pedal arm rear travel stop position. This procedure automatically adjusts the brake light switch correctly.
If the brake lights still don't turn off with the brake pedal released, check the brake pedal arm for sticking or binding that is preventing the brake pedal arm from returning fully to the pedal stop when the brake is released.
