Sata cable & pata cable have a any jumper setting

Hi,
The hard drive / optical drive have jumper settings, not the motherboard. PATA has jumper settings, but SATA do not require any. The diagram of the setting is drawn on the hard disk itself below the serial number etc. For SATA, look on the motherboard for the SATA ports. Each port will be named as like SATA 0, SATA 1 etc. If you want the hardd disk to boot first, plug it in SATA 0. and the next device in SATA 1. However, you can also set the first and other boot device from the BIOS itself, in case of SATA.

My sata has been removed fram my motherboard, only the yellow colour plastic, but the seven pins are their in a motherboard so give me the solution, please fast

Hi shaqi0078666

Meaning now,
pin SATA on SATA port for SATA ports left and you were broken.
what about the other SATA port?
if there is, use the other SATA port for your SATA and SATA cut the pin is left, do not let it come into contact with another pin.
If you do not have SATA ports. you must try to improve by changing the SATA port on the sata port. or you can use sata to ide converter to install a SATA hard disk to your motherboard..

thanks&regards

My ECS motherboard cannot detect the SATA port for my samsung dvd rom. I want to know the solution of this problem.

Go into your BIOS and make sure that your SATA port is turned on. Some BIOSes make you turn them on to detect something plugged into them. Look at the SATA port that you are connecting to on the motherboard. There should be a number next to it, make sure that's the one you turn on in your BIOS.

Raid settings, i one to set sata drive as primary and ide as secondery

First connect the SATA to port 0 Sata does not have any Primary or secondary port, It has ports SATA0,SATA1,SATA 2, 3 and 4(depending upon the number of ports available on your motherboard), Connect the SATA to port SATA0

Then connect another Drive to IDE 2(secondary). Normally the IDE port closer to the RAM is primary.

To confirm the connection is correct you can look in the BIOS

Sata hard drive could not be detected during win xp installation in acer aspire M3600

It could only be a limited number of problems:

1. SATA drive is not connected to the primary port
2. SATA cable is faulty
3. SATA drive is faulty

The most common solution is to move the cable to the primary/first port

Once you reset the bios everything goes to manufactures default settings. You will need to make some changes within the bios. You'll need the help of the manual. See page 3-20.
If your operating system is loaded on to the ATA IDE drive make sure you set bios settings as follows:
Connect the ATA IDE to MB primary master IDE port.
Connect the ATA SATA drive to the MB's first SATA port.

ATA Configuration
Set as, [P-ATA+S-ATA]
S-ATA Keep [Enabled] Set to [Yes] This enables the SATA controller.
P-ATA Keep [Enabled] Set to [Yes] This enables the IDE controller.
On-chip IDE configuration, "ATA Configuration = [P-ATA+S-ATA]".
Next go to Boot menu. Make sure the ATA IDE drive is chosen as boot device three.
First boot device [Floppy] (If you have a floppy disk drive connected.)
Second boot device would be [DVD/CD-ROM] drive. This should be connected to the MB's secondary IDE port & the DVD/CD-ROM drives Master/Slave jumper, set to Master.
Third boot device [ATA IDE drive]
If your boot drive is the SATA drive than set: third boot device to the SATA drive.
(Hard disk drive with operating system loaded on it).
Save your changes & exit the bios.
Keep in mind all ATA SATA drives are seen as Master drives. SATA drives are seen by the SATA controller & in order by their connection to the SATA port number.
Save & exit the bios. The system will auto restart. Windows should start.

Sata controller was corrupted. cannot install any sata drives or sata drives was not found on the system.

henx, How do you know that the SATA controller is corrupt?

I see you state that your SATA drives are not beeing found by the system. The SATA controller is defective if your bios does not see a connected SATA drive connected to the SATA port & the SATA power connector is also correct & connected. There is not a fix for your issue. I checked every bios version for your P4S800D-X. No SATA fix through Asus. There is only one way to get your board fixed. You must call Asus tech at 812-282-2787 M-F Eastern time. Please have handy the set of numbers found on a white sticker on the serial port. Asus will need this number. Keep your system together as the tech will want you to do some checks before he will issue you a case number. Keep in mind Asus warrants boards for three years. Asus also can not repair your board's defective SATA controller. They will test it & replace board with another. After receiving a case number you'll have to call CA for a RMA No#. RMA dept, will send you a RMA to your email address along with instructions on how to send the board back to Asus.
