I have one of these and what i usually have to do is plug the little part in which plugs in to the ps2 then let that load for a few seconds then try turning on the controller.

not really a solution here...im having this problem too. the receiver is all plugged in,new batteries in controller and its switched on. the reciever has a red light thats flashing but its still not working. does anyone know why??

Go to Settings then System Settings then System Information. Once there check the "Version" of the System Software. If it's over 3.5 your "third party" controller is no longer supported. i.e. it will no longer work. Sorry, same issue here. :-(

Mad Catz has been known to cause hardware problems with Sony units. However, it sounds like you are just having a sync problem. Try plugging in a USB Cable to the PS3, connecting it to the controller, then pressing the Home button.
