SOURCE: I can't open my samsonite luggage...the combo is stuck but I can

Turn your suitcase upside down. At this position all your numbers look upside down. Now with the help of a torch light you should see a small gap above the rotating thing (the one with which you change your number) Take the first rotating thing and rotate from 0 to 9, at some particular number you can see a small hole inside the small gap which I have mentioned before. Do the same for the next 2 rotating thing.
When you are done you can see the small hole(a tiny spring like material is seen in the hole) in all the three small gaps.
Now you can open the number lock.

SOURCE: I do not know the combination of my samsonite hard case suitcase

I tried working through the series of possible numbers and at the same time gently pressing the lower part of the lock to see if it would open. After a while I used a claw hammer which I gently inserted the claw beneath the lower portion of the lock and again gently prised it and at first go the lock opened and no damage done that I can see. I have not reset the lock yet.

Usually there us a reset switch. Sometimes this is the release. The default is usually to set to the current combo, the hold the release or reset while turning to the new combo.

How to change the 3 digit code of my samsonite ?

Luggage manufacturer Samsonite offers a variety of business, personal, travel products and accessories. Many Samsonite pieces such as attaches and other bags include a three-digit, built-in combination lock. When purchased, the locks are set on a factory default combination that you can change as often as you wish.

STEP 1
Turn the number dials to the previously set combination, or to "0-0-0", the factory default combination for Samsonite luggage.

STEP 2
Locate the reset button, usually placed to the side of the combination dials.

STEP 3
Press the reset button and hold it while rotating the number dials to the desired combination. Set this to a sequence easy for you to remember but hard for others to figure out.

STEP 4
Release the reset button after you set the numbers to the new combination.

STEP 5
Test the combination by turning the dials to the new code to open the lock. If the combination does not open the lock, repeat Steps 1 through 4 and test the lock again. If you still can't open the lock, contact Samsonite Customer Service at 800-765-2247.

Cannot lock

Pick your number. Look at the inside of the lock. There should be a little "slider". Slide that - it sets your number and then your lock should function normally.

I need to open a 4 dial brass combo lock. It is a Samsonite luggage lock. The patent number is 5,715,709. It is locked but not to anything. I would hate to throw it away, but if I can not open it then,...

The patent number does not help at all, because it is the same on all luggage by Samsonite.
If you could find a serial number that was unique with each piece, that could possibly cross reference a combination, but not likely.

What follows are Samsonite's own instructions. Note that they don't work on the new Samsonite CURV though, but you didn't say which case you have:-

"The following are the lock picking instructions you requested from Samsonite Consumer Relations.
1. Position the luggage so that the numbers on the wheel are
right-side-up as they face you and set all three wheels to “0′.
2. Starting with the wheel on the left, to the right of the wheel,
look into the narrow space between the right side of the wheel and
the body of the lock. Look down into the shaft. (If you have a
safety pin, straight pin, or thin nail file, place that in the
narrow space.)
3. While looking down into the shaft, rotate the wheel slowly. You
are looking for an indentation (a square notch). When you find
the indentation, stop and write the number down. (If you are using
a tool, the tool will fall into the indentation.)
4. Follow the process for the remaining two wheels.
5. Try to open the piece of luggage.
6. If the luggage still will not open, please try the following:
a) If the number on the wheel is over 5, subtract 5 from the
number showing. For example, if the number showing is 8 turn
the wheel to 3 because 8-5=3.
b) If the number is under 5, add 5 to the number showing. For
example if the number showing is 2 turn the wheel to 7
because 2+5=7. The numbers showing on the wheels will be
your combination.
If you still have a problem with the combination lock, contact the nearest authorized repair center to your zip code for repair assistance. Our warranty and repair information can be viewed at http://www.samsonite.com under the heading “Customer Service Repair Centers” for your reference."

Please note that I've simply cut and pasted this answer from an identical question from a few days ago, but it did resolve the question and there's no point in me re-inventing the wheel. If you want to see the original question and answer then please click here.

Please remember to rate both my answer and also whichever of the answers in the original question you wish to vote for.
