The Red & White Cable must be plug into the Audio IN of the TV RCA jack this is for Left & Right audio. The Yellow must be plug in into Video Input of the TV for the picture. If you select the AV1 as your DVD input, to view it you must set the tv to AV1.

Dvd is playing movies in black and white

Hi
use red/white/Yellow cables to connect to a loose hard diskon which I keep films, TV-serials and talking books. The colour is fine.

But I connect the DVD to the TV with a scart cable.

Hope you get your colour

I just need a diagram to show me how to hook the dvd/vcr up to my television. I have Dishnetwork as well. I un-hooked and now I can't get a picture.

Not knowing the model of the TV its hard to tell you how to hook it up. Howeever let's assume that yu TV has an auido in and a composite video input. it it does is should have three RCA jacks on the back...one red, one white and one yellow.

Assuming Dishnetwork is being used as a analog video.

Connect the VCR/DVD player via a patch cable ( usually has three cable all color coded, red, white & yellow) Red and White section is used for the audio Left and Right. The yellow cable is video.

Connect the audio out of the VCR/DVD player to the audio input on the TV. Do the same with the videoout of the VCR/DVD to the TV may be marked "Composite Video". Now connect your Dish Network receiver RF Out to the TV. This should be a coaxal cable.

Now when you want VRC/DVD use your remote and select input. Some older TV's have the aux input just before Ch 2. Some remotes have an input button.

once you have aux inpsut selected turn on the dvd and play your movie to view Dish go to Ch 3 or 4 depending on how your TV and system is set up.

Again not knowing the model TV you have, this is a general hook up.

Thank you Let us know if it helps

How do I hook it up to a TV so that we can watch a movie on the TV instead of the small screen

On the side there is a video out socket ( sometimes marked AV out and yellow in color ). You will have to get an interconnecting cable to link it to your TV. The back of the TV will have corresponding yellow/red/white sockets. The yellow is for video and the red/white is for left/right audio. Your player comes with this cable along with the AC adapter . bobhifi_56.jpg

Hook up

Hi:
This type of hook up is only for television viewing, to view the DVD you might consider purchasing some componet cables, they are color coded so hooking up is a snap, on the back of the DVD player you will see three RCA type connections Red/Green/Blue. componet cables are also these colors, connect one end of the cables to it coorsponding color on the back of your DVD and the other in the same color connectors labeled componet 1 input on the back of your television. You will also need a red and white RCA connector also for the audio as this is sound, a total of 5 connections will complete the hook up. Or you can go the simple route and use RCA type cables that come as yellow/red/white but for the best picture use componet cables this will allow you to watch your movies in HD.

I'm having problems hooking up the dvd player. Where do I connect the wires in the back of the tv

The most common way to connect a DVD player to a TV is to use composite cables which are yellow, red, and white. The yellow cable carries the picture while the red and white cables carry the audio. All you have to do is match the colors to the correct holes in the back and then put your TV on the correct input or source when you're ready to view a DVD movie.

I hope I've provided you useful assistance and that this information allows you to make an informed decision as to how to proceed from here. Please be sure to vote on my response. I hope I've earned a good rating from you today.

Tv works great, dvd is new , cant figure out the right hook up , dvd has 3 cables white yellow red

Red = right sound channel, white = left sound channel and yellow = video (picture) channel. if you have the connections matching these on the tv, then there should be an AV channel on the remote/tv control panel. Select this channel to view, if more than one AV channel on the tv, there will be a number next to the sockets you plugged into. Select the AV number and away you go.
If your tv doesn't have the correct sockets you can buy a converter to use the ariel socket on the tv.

I am hooking up a dvd player with the black and white wires

The most basic hook up you can do is use a composite AV cable(yello/red/white). This cable should have come with your player. Check your TV it has those available inputs. They are also color coded. On the back of your player, there is only one yellow colored jack so there should be no problem in identifying where to plug the composite video cable(yellow). Put the composite audio cables (red and white) to the DVD player Audio Out jacks (red and white). Then plug the other end of those cables on the back of your TV. Just make sure they are INPUTS on the TV and colored the same - yello/red/white.

Then find your TV's correct viewing channel. It is not channle 3 or 4. Depending on the TV brand, it may be called AV, INPUT, VIDEO, GAME, SOURCE, AUX, EXT., etc. To find that channel, you may need to check the instructions on your TV manual. Most of the time, there are buttons on the TV remote control or on the TV itself. Sometimes, you need to go into the TV Menu.

Scrambly TV

take a quick peek in the manual and find out where to disable the progressive scan features. may be a button on the back, or you may have to go through the on screen menu to find it. take the disc out and see if you can view what's on screen. or since you said you had a couple of movies that did work properly, put one of those in, start the movie, go into the dvd player setup menu and disable the progressive scan settings
