Removing the covers is not the answer. Most jams on rear feed printers/faxes are due to some object falling in the sheet feeder. When you pull the paper back out (Very slowly) of the sheet feeder after it has jammed , you will see a nick in the paper. This is because the paper is hitting something and cant get past it. put the paper back in the sheet feeder and the nick will indicate where the object is. Find a large paper clip and unwind it and bend the top of it to 90 degrees. use this to hook the object out and then tip the printer upside down and watch it fall out. Good luck

My printer says I have a paper jam and there is no paper in it I cannot get it off there

->'Paper jam' I suppose is the commonest of all printer problems as it can occur due to strayed, stuck bits of papers in pathway of paper tray, outlet, roller etc. I would recommend cleaning the paper inlet, outlet, and other possible areas to avoid a paper jam situation. I have observed that most people fan the paper pile to keep them dry or non-sticky. It's a wrong method because fanning the pile of papers make them go haywire and often lead to paper jam.

->'No paper' error occur due to a paper sensor problem or a mechanical problem with the paper tray. If you can find the paper sensor, wipe it and the surrounding areas with a clean piece of cloth. Try to look for some broken plastic gears or chipped plastic components. If you do find a broken component, your best option is to bring it to a service center for replacement of the broken part.

My printer don't feed the paper in order to print

Could be a number of things but I'll narrow down do you have the pictured printer? or a laser printer? Cleaning the pick up roller and check for "separation" pad appearing to be hard plastic somewhere in line or near where the blank paper hit the go flag

Check for 8 1/2" 20# to 24# paper.

If all checks out try looking for an individual staple, nail or wire that might have fallen in the rollers. Most likely something is jammed in there like a paper clip, or the day time passers by just are going about their business

I've had my brother mfc-7440n for over 2 years and it's been working great until this past week. Now, it has a paper jam every single time I try to print anything, causing me to have to remove the...

85% of paper jams are caused by worn rollers . The rubber treads in the rollers wears down, making them smooth, so they won't pick up the paper. Sometimes, they are aged, which also gives them a smoother rounded texture, causing jams. The quick fix is to liven up that roller with a mixture of alcohol and soap. Damp a rag with the solution and wipe the rollers clean with it. That's make them more pliable and the paper jams will cease. If you plan to keep your printer,

Replace the pick-up and feed rollers.

Metal Tab Separation- Pull out your paper tray and examine either end where the paper sits in. If any of the corners are held down by metal tabs, this is your paper feed system. Chances are, you only have one rubber roller or one set of rollers arranged along side of each other. Reach in where the tray goes and feel up. You should feel some rollers. They might be completely round, or they might be shaped like a half moon. Clean whichever part of them you can with the solution, and this should stop your paper jams. It might be necessary to turn them, but don't force them if they don't move freely.

Pickup Roller and Separation Pad-

If your printer uses this paper feed system, you should see a small piece of flat or slightly curved rubber or cork. It would be towards the end of the paper tray, or deep inside the paper loading cavity on top loaders. This 'separation pad' rubs against the paper feed roller, so if you find the pad, you've found the roller. Clean it and your jams should stop.

Three Roller Paper Separation System- Pull your paper tray out, and look for a roller on either end of it. If you find one, clean it. Then look inside the printer where that roller would rest with the paper tray inserted. You'll find another paper roller there. Clean this one also. Finally, look further back or closer to the front of your printer (depending on which way your paper feeds) to find another roller or set of rollers. Clean all of these, and your paper jams will go away

MX340 printer will NOT feed paper -- first sheet goes in about 2 inches and THAT IS ALL! This problem started suddenly -- all other functions appear normal. have even turned upside down and shaken to...

Two things you could try:

1) Your pickup rollers are dirty/worn:
Remove the tray, you should see either in the front or back some rubber rollers that feed the paper into the machine. These are much like tires in that they need thread to move the paper - if they're worn out, they need replacing - if they have a lot of paper dust or other stuff on them try to clean them with a moist lint-free rag. (Water only is fine, rubbing alcohol if they're bad)
Also look for a seperation pad, this will be a rubber or cork pad under the rollers. Clean this as well and if it's worn, replace.

2) A sensor is stuck or malfunctioning:
Run a page, make a mental note of where it stopped. Run another, did it stop in the EXACT same place both times?
Look in front of where the paper stopped, is there a small plastic flag right before the paper? Is it damaged or stuck? Try taking some canned air to that flag/sensor and try again.

Usually situations like these are either just simply worn/dirty rollers not feeding paper to the sensors in time or the sensors are damaged.
If neither of these resolve the problem then you may be looking at a solenoid issue or something else you wouldn't be able to repair on your own.

Canon mx 700 printer gets the error code 5800.Please give me the solution.

Please remove your printer from the PC and uninstall the printer software. Now reinstall the printer software and connect the Printer to be detected and installed. Check printer properties to see the ink levels. Carry out all the maintenance Tasks like cleaning the print head, nozzles etc and check the ink cartridges by going to the properties of the printer.
The problem could be due to mechanical jamming. Could be fault in the transport of the paper in the rollers. There can be some jammed paper in the rollers or the mechanism.

Remove the covers to get access to the rollers and see if there is any obstruction or damage paper stuck up between the roller assembly. Remove the stuck paper.
Also, clean the other parts by blowing compressed air or with a soft moistened cloth.

Generally the solution lies in opening and closing the printer cover repeatedly till the code is not displayed

OKI C9600 paper jam problems: Paper jams continually, either on first attempt to printing or if it prints a page the 2nd page inevitably jams. Printer has only done 1500 pages since new ,and i have removed...

Wow! That's quite the printer you have there. The C9600 does have a feed roller in the front; and it's not uncommon for paper to still get stuck. Does your paper "fan" when it goes through; or simply, go through and jam? It's possible a paper feed sensor is bad too. Another thing you might want to check is the paper tray; and that the paper is set to the proper size.

Also be aware, the OKI 9600 had a recall a year or so ago for some potential "shock issues" I would advise you to check with OKI directly to determine if this printer is part of that issue too.

My printer says that there is a paper jam but there is no paper in it.

Check the pick up rollers, this is a very common issue. If it mispicks and leaves the paper in the tray, it will code a jam. Damp cloth and clean the pick up rollers inside the tray.

Copier - Paper does not feed/paper jam light keeps going on.

Depending on the type of machine, it is probably just dirty rollers that pick up your paper (slipping). If you remove the tray, and look inside you should see some rollers (usually gray) that take the paper from the tray. Use a cloth dampened with some alcohol(if you have it) or simply water to clean these rollers (gently).. dry if you have used water, the top sheet or 2 of previously used paper, and try it.
